Question about Apple Computers & Internet

1 Answer

I have two Mac, both running OS X 10.6.5. Let's call these two Macs MacA and MacB. On MacA I have attached a Canon MX310 all-in-one printer/scanner/fax. I already am able to share the printer from MacA and print to it from MacB. Now I would like to share the scanner from MacA and scan from it on MacB. I haven't been able to get this working. Is it possible to share the MX310's scanner? If so, how?

Hmmm... I love those tough questions.

Have you installed the driver/software on MacB? You have to have the front end application for the scanner function to work and have something to talk to..

If you choose Scan on the Canon, do you see a choice of computers to scan to? Look for that and see if you can step back and forth between what's on your network.

If not you might connect to the Canon with your MacA and see if you can configure it to look for MacB as well.

Good luck!

I found the problem. Snow Leopard comes with Canon printer drivers, but it doesn't come with Canon scanner drivers. Canon makes it very, very hard to find any Snow Leopard drivers, but once I found the scanner driver for my MX310 and installed them things started working. The driver I installed washttp://software.canon-europe.com/softwar... (mx310sosxsd1390ej7.dmg, also known as "Canon ScanGear for OSX version 13.9.0")

I am trying to hook up a Canon MX 310 to my MAC and tried to download the driver and end up with an error message. Failed many times and just can't figure it out...can you help?

Depending on which Mac OS you are running you shouldn't need to download a driver - most Canon printers are included in the Apple software from X10.5

Wont install on Mac i use leopard and it states it needs classic envinroment

"In any case, you will not be able to use the Classic Environment in any OS with your MacBook Pro. The Classic Environment functions only on PowerPC-based Macs, of which the MacBook Pro (and all other currently sold Macs) is not. Mac OS 9 was never designed for Intel Macs, and cannot run on them without full PowerPC hardware emulation."

Hope it helps

How can i make phone calls on canon mx310?

Are you sure the phone cable is in the right jack? Look for the icons beside the 2 jacks - the one that looks like a phone connects to the phone. You should also apply Canon's firware update at http://www.canon.com and search for fumx310swin1040en.exe if you have Windows or for an iMac the file is MX310 series Firmware Upgrade Utility Ver. 1.040 (Mac OS X) with a file name of fumx310sosx1040en.dmg

Too bad Canon can't be bothered to email it's registered users to notify them that the machine they sold us was shipped with defective firmware and attach the fix to the message to save us from hunting for the solution.
