Your internal flash is recharging from the camera batteries, this time can be reduced with fresh charged batteries. Really what is happening is that the internal flash is taking as much power as it can to charge and the whole system slows down. Not only that you may be shooting in the highest picture quality which will again slow things down a bit put the two together and it's really noticeable.

At least the camera is telling you without letting you go ahead and make another picture and further compound the problem and give you a dark picture, Smart Camera.

Hi! There are reasons that a person think in going into business. The most common is gaining "Profit" and "Motive". Or an individual want to have a business venture because he/she knows that they are good at. They might think I am good in cooking that's why they want a business that offers food to their customer. Being successful also might their interest that's why they want to go into business. It is by their own interest why they want to be in business and for profit.

My name is Madhu. I use the camera Canon EOS 400D / Digital Rebel XTi. When the inbuilt FLASH is on then a message pop up as "busy now", when i tried to click the camera to take a photo then...

Welcome to Fixya
Err 99 could mean several different things, such as... Memory Card, Lens or Lens contacts....

Here's what you can try:
Remove the memory card an enable "shooting with out memory card" and see if you still get the error. If it works your memory card is bad. Try another lens if you can. Clean the lens contacts with a pencil eraser (be careful not to get eraser dust in the camera body or in the lens). Worst case scenario is, Err 99 could be related to the shutter failing which would mean a trip to Canon.

Thank you

Well, my flash doesn't always pop up. It has been working on and off and now will not shoot. It says "ERR 05" - keeps blinking that. Can you help?

I have the Canon Rebel t1i (500d) and I had the same problem (built in flash not working). I tried a number of remedies I found on forums etc but none worked. I then tried this with the camera pointing away from me as if taking a picture. In the external flash housing is a metal sprung plate which surrounds the five circular pins (one big, four small at the rear). If you get a small straight headed screwdriver and lift the front of this plate and at the same time pull it back towards you it will come out altogether. (In picture 2 I show this plate removed and sitting in front of the mount only so you can see it removed, it was brought out backwards so towards me from the camera).
I then removed the four small screws being careful not to drop them and took off the mount for the external flash and then tried the flash it opened straight away. I then cleaned all the area of the mount and the two plates and replaced them all ensuring I fitted them exactly as before. I then checked the camera again and presto working fine. I hope this helps everyone with the problem.

  • Try the scotch tape or masking tape technique: get around two to three inches long sticky tape, stick about an inch above the flash housing, turn on the camera, hold the remaining tape upward , shoot the camera and pull the tape upward with a force enough to pull-up the flash bulb housing.

"busy" Error

check your firmware version and update if necessary. Usually you get the "busy" message when your camera is writing to the card and it's possible the card isn't quite right - a format should fix it. Alternatately you might try a different CF card to see if the problem goes away. Good luck!

Failure of flash sync in F828?

I experience similar failure sometimes. I un-mount the flash (or adapter) from the hot shoe and put it back, and am back in business. The reason is, at least in my case. loose contact, resulting from movement of the flash/adapter in the shoe.
