This may be due to a blown fuse or a internal wiring disconnection. Try using another power outlet if that helps. If the fuse and wiring connections seems to be fine then it is due to a faulty/burnt compoenet on the control board and may need a replecement. Try flipping the circuit breaker as well. Hope this helps... Please post back with model# if you need more information.

13 yr old dishwasher suddenly stopped working mid pre wash. Water left in bottom of machine. Power point is fine. Will not start at all now though. No lights turn on either. Is it fixable ?

If it is 13 years old, it has most likely reached its end of life--whatever the cause, something has malfunctioned. However, a service technician would probably be able to advise.

I've got a Sears/Craftsman 1/2 HP garage door opener. It's older, it was in the house when I bought it 11 years ago -- model #139.53600 The door will open when I press the pushbutton inside the garage,...

If you have the wall control with 3 buttons one of them is the lock button. It is not on the side. If you have it and the light in the wall control is flashing, press and hold the button with the lock icon for 3 seconds and release. If that is not the situation your receiver is bad. The receiver is inside the motor unit and is part of the logic board.

Power off

Howdy. I suspect a power surge went through your machine and fried its itsy bitsy brain. Its time for a new one unless you have a good supplier and serviceman who will replace the control unit. Get an estimate with a closed top cost before you agree.

Wiring a dayton timer relay

If i understand you correctly you want to push the button, release it and have the timer give power to the solenoid for 3 more seconds, correct? If this is the case you will need an off delay timer. On delay timers work like this. You push the button, power goes through the timer, at this point the timer starts counting, when the timer reaches its preset point,(3 seconds we'll say) the contacts change till the power to the timer goes off.

If you hook this up with an on-delay timer this is what will happen:
Push the button and release, the timer will tick as long as you hold the button down, till three seconds, then the solenoid will raise until you release the button.

With an off delay this will happen: push button , solenoid begins working, when button is released timer counts 3 seconds while solenoid is still working, then removes power to the solenoid.

The way you would wire the off-delay is like this:
Connect line side of your pushbutton(incoming power side),incoming power and terminal 1 on your base together. next connect the load side (outgoing power side) of your pushbutton and terminal 2 on your base together. Connect terminal 3 to the hot wire or terminal on your solenoid. Lastly connect terminal 7 the incoming neutral wire and the neutral wire or terminal of the solenoid together.

I am telling you how to wire it in my head, if you'll write back with some specifics such as what wire you will use, where your getting power from, what the solenoid current draw is and such i can get a little more detailed. maybe it will make more sense.

Also make sure the timer and pushbutton are rated to handle the solenoids running current. The timer appears to handle 10 amps im not sure what you pushbutton can handle. Also keep in mind the solenoid will operate for whatever time u set it to, after the button is released. There are other ways to do it but this would be the most economical way.

And of course turn the breaker off and test that it is off before working on the circuit. Write back with any problems.

3 year old GE dishwasher dead!

Buy a different brand of washing machine. I suggest a front loading one because they use so little water and they are cost effective and actually pay for themselves.

Fridge Problem

Hello mikemloy.
Welcome to Fixya

You said, your Fridge is 3-4 years old. It has power (the light works) but the motor does not run therefore its not getting cold. Is this likely to be a motor/compressor problem? if so is it worth fixing or should you just replace the unit.

It is only 3 or 4 years old and you bought it new?
I think it may be low on freon, and the compressor will not turn on under these circumstances.
A compressor does not usually go in 4 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Call Frigidaire and if it is the compressor you can ask them to replace it free cause it is only 3 years old. You would be surprised what the right person can do.
I deal with them every day.
They know it is harder to find new customers than to keep the ones you have!
It may only be only a bad thermostat.
I usually tell them I'm about to redo my kitchen and picked all frigidaire Pro steel apliances, BUT I"M NOT going to go with them if they do not make good on my new defective freezer!
( Be real nice and soft spoken and sweet. Not angry and insist, do not give in)

If so your good with a nominal repair.
Try this first, turn the fridge off at the switch inside . And then unplug the unit for 5 minutes.
It must be off at least 3 minutes is why I told you 5 minutes!!!
Some units will reboot their systems and start!

Let me know how it turns out!

Here is an interesting article I just read about , to replace or fix!

When to pull the plug on your dishwasher

Typically, you'll also find a troubleshooting section for more-serious problems in the owner's manual and on the Web sites of many manufacturers.

Should you pay for a repair or buy a new model? The answer depends mostly on the age of your dishwasher, how much you bought it for, and the cost of the repair. Follow these guidelines from our in-house experts:

When a repair makes sense. If your dishwasher is under warranty or less than four years old , paying for a repair makes sense. Note that dishwasher under warranty might require service from a factory-authorized technician; readers have found them on a par with independent repairers.

When a repair might be a wise choice. If your dishwasher is out of warranty and is four to seven years old, it might make sense to pay for a repair. Readers paid $100 to $200 for a repair. But you might want to buy a new model even at this stage, given that today's models are quieter and have added features. They pay for them selves in only a few years due to higher energy efficiency which is another plus: Energy Star-qualified models made after April 28, 2008, are 43 percent more efficient than conventional models built before 2001 and 56 percent more efficient than those built before 1993.

When it pays to replace. The repair costs more than half the price of a comparable new dishwasher. Our data also show that it doesn't pay to fix a less-expensive dishwasher six or more years old .
Thanks to better recycling programs, less than 10 percent of a dishwasher you replace is likely to end up in a landfill.
Thank you for using our services to advice you.
