How do I put detergent in I've tried dishes don't come clean

Dear Forrest.
Next time you run the dishwasher, open it whether in the middle of a cycle near the end, or immediately after the cycle is finishes, and see if the water is really hot
. If it is not, likely the powder detergent is not "melting".
Usually they need really hot water to "melt " the powder and clean the dishes.
Or use a liquid detergent, and be sure to use just a little to start.
One more thing.
Really "hard" water has minerals in it that will show up on your clean dishes, so perhaps you may have that problem.
Is this problem new to you?
God bless your efforts.

It began with the dishes on the upper rack not being cleaned. Not the bottom rack is getting less cleaning done and some of the liquid detergent is left in the detergent compartment. I tried doing a...

Check your spray arms for pluggage at the slots and the nozzles. If you can remove them, do so and backwash them over the sink. Unplug the slots and nozzles with a toothpick or fine wire.
This should also help with dispensing the detergent, but reduce the amount to the least that you can use while still getting the dishes clean. We have cut our detergent usage to about 25%. Also, try to not place tall items where they can block the water spray to the dispensing compartment.
Use a good drying agent, and crack the door open when the washer reaches the end of the cycle, as this will help the dishes to continue to dry, and further release the steam, resulting in cleaner dishes.
The reduction of the detergent, along with the cleaning of the spray arms will help a lot. I should note here though that I've had to re-clean the arms after what I thought was a most thorough cleaning. Once they are really clean, they'll work better for a long time (usually).

I havent used my dishwasher in weeks because it leaves a gritty stuff on the dishes and though they seem to be clean they are not

some of the new detergents have additives in them such as "bleaching action" or with dawn additive. these compounds are very difficult to rinse off, and most people use way too much detergent anyway. run your dishwasher empty on the hottest setting for 2 or 3 cycles. add a cup of white vinegar to each cycle. after you are done, try to use plain cascade powder, and only use a tablespoon. your problem should go away. keep in mind that more detergent is not better, and the detergent manufacturer makes money when you use their product. they are going to recommend that you use alot. you need to vary the amount of detergent with the amount of soil on your dishes. If you pre wash your dishes before you load them, you dont need much detergent at all. the recommended amount is for really dirty dishes.

My dishwasher has left white chalky residue on all dishes and i have tried several times but it dosent go away

the problem is hard water. there is a product at that filters out these hard minerals that cause those spots and leaves your dishes crystal clear every time. it is very affordable and has a money back guarantee. you will love this product and your dishes again.

Kenmore Dishwasher 17369 not thoroughly cleaning

The first is to look for filters and drains to clean. Also check out the jets, as sometimes these can be clogged farther back than you can see with a quick inspections. You can likely remove them and take a good look. Secondly, you may want to switch detergents. Perhaps the quality of the water you are using has changed, hard water build up or you have changed detergents. You have to find the right detergent for the kind of water you are using, especially if you don't have a water softener. where the filter in the bottom of the dishwasher needed cleaning out. Just take the screws out, pull the plastic filter out and clean. Hope this helps. Report

It not cleaning good

First detergents, make sure that its not expired. 2) some dishwashers do better with liquid or powder, so try each one, brands can vary also.

If hard water use more detergent soft less.

If only not cleaning on top rack you have a water pressure issue.

Also ensure you are properly putting the dishes on the rack, incorrect dishes restrict flow, pressure, and cleaning action.
