Sounds odd.

Check the memory card after format. Format with a flash card reader then do a right click on your mouse to check properties. Do you actually have 4gb available now?

Check to see that you're not shooting in RAW but that shouldn't eat up 4gb of space.

You can also use chkdsk to see if there are bad sectors on your card.

My sony cyber shot camera suddenly is saying that my Lexar 4GB CompactFlash Premium Series 80x needs to be formatted. What about my pictures?

You might have locked memory card. If not first try to connect memory card to PC with memory card reader and try to copy your stuff... then after you take all stuff try to format it.

i think those photos save in your camera built in memory. took the card out and turn on the camera . NOw press the play button and see the photos appeared in screen or not. If yes then you have to make the default storage location as your memory card.

I have a 4GB SD card in my camera, but it will only hold 30 pictures. I'm thinking it is something with the settings, but not sure how to change it. any suggestions?

When you take the card out, can you still view the 30 pictures? If so, these are on the internal memory of the camera which is very small. Your 4GB card should hold hundreds of pictures. If you want to save the 30 pictures, you need to go into the menu and find "copy" and copy the internal memory to a memory card. Then, remove the card, go back into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions and erase the internal memory. Put your card back in and it should work properly.

Hi, I have a Samsung NV3 camera, I have installed a new 4 GB memory card but it is showing memory full. Is there and internal memory on the camera that is full that requires deleting? many thanks

I've tried to download a manual for this camera to give you the most accurate answer possible, however after a few minutes of frustration I'm going to answer this sort of "off the top of my head so to speak" My first impression is that the 4GB memory card my be beyond your cameras capabilities but first try this. Have you checked the memory card to make sure it's not locked I'll include a diagram check the small circle for the correct orientation the arrow shows the lock position.

Once you have made sure the card is unlocked install the memory card and then format the card. Formatting "programs and new card to work with the camera it has been installed into. Also Formatting should be done after each download of pictures to the computer hard drive. In this case formatting cleanse the old pictures off and programs the card once again to give optimum performance between the camera and memory card. If this still doesn't work then I suspect the 4GB card is to large for the camera "firmware and you will need to update your camera on the Samsung web site to a newer version of firmware. Sounds complicated but heck i did it so it's not all that technical. Also the memory card you are replacing may only need to be formatted to begin to work properly again (that's if you were having problems)

The camera will not allow me to take pictures. It says=card is locked but I have tried three different memory cards and no luck

Make sure that you are using 2GB or less memory cards for your older camera. 4GB or higher SDHC will not work with an SD300. There are several possible causes for "memory card locked", "memory card error", or "no memory card". Some include trying to use of a 4GB SDHC card with an older camera made before SDHC format came out. Others include problems with the tiny slide switch on the side of the card, or the electrical contact switch internal to the camera. The problem may also arise from simple formatting problems if the card has never been formatted in the camera (note that this will also erase the card). Troubleshooting tips for this problem may be found at this link.

You need to erase the internal memory. With no card in the camera, go into the menu and find "format"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then, insert the card and do the format thing again. This will erase the card so download any pics from it you want to save using a card reader if necessary.

Does your camera have an internal memory? If so, format it with your memory card out of the camera. Then, format the new card in the camera.

Lots of file errors, O also now can't copy files off, says i/o device error

try using a memory card with 2GB or below
the camera might be having some problems reading the 4GB that you have

if you connect the camera to your computer and file error still appears that means that the memory card is corrupted and you really need to format it

before you do make sure that you have a copy of the files saved in the memory card

*formatting the memory card will delete all the files saved in it

go to MENU> SET UP > FORMAT

KINGSTON 4GB MEMORY SD CARD

Check if your camera can support a 4G card. Some don't support than 2GB. if it supports, re-insert the card.
PS. If you have a card reader. Formatting once from your computer can help.
