remotes, do not tell you to replace bulbs..please explain what you are seeing, that makes you think a bulb has to be changed..thanks

These are two seperate issues. I know the bulb needs changing because it is out. I assume the bulb has blown. And I can't figure out how to reverse the fan blades so the the air will be drawn up and not pushed down which is usually better in the winter.

In addition this particular ceiling fan has a set of lights above and below the fan blades and I am not sure how to get the globe off of the top portion above the blades.

That sounds better, you first said the remote told you...
1. your remote will have a reverse button or a fwd/rev button
i dont know which remote you have
2. as far as the globe, if you dont see little screws holding in place
you have the twist style, you will rotate the globe. their is also a chance if it made of soft plastic, it will pop out

I tried to help you. Please help me and Rate/Vote on my response. We take the time to answer your question's. take the time to rate us.Thanks and good luck

I guess that is the way I typed it. What I meant was I got the model number from the remote. Thanks for the help. I figured out how to change the bulb in the top portion in case anyone else is interested. There were 4 screws up top and once I got those out there were plastic grate type things that I was able to remove. Once those were removed there are 6 small night light kinda bulbs. As far as the remote and reversing the fan blades, the remote has a button in the middle that doesn't have any writing on it and it doesn't do anything. The indicator light doesn't light up when I push it either. All the other buttons work. I am not sure if that is it or not.

How do I get the fan to work using the remote ? All buttons (even the fan buttons) only operate the light, and only the upper light at that. Battery was low. Thought that was the issue, replaced with

First of all, that's a low-end fan made for Home Depot only! Did the remote come with the fan or was it an add-on remote. If there are any pull chains on the fan & light, then it was an add-on remote. If there is a reverse switch on the fan, then the reverse on the remote transmitter will not work. Probably need a new receiver.

There is usually a slide switch on the side below the motor.

I don't believe any of them reverse from the remote control.

We have a hampton bay ceiling fan model 54cvt. We cant figure out how to change the light bulb or change the direction of the blades. We dont have a manual for the fan.

This fan is also known as the Hampton Bay Covington 54 Ceiling Fan. You need to turn the globe anti clockwise until it comes out. The full instruction manual can be found here.

Can't figure out how to reverse the Hampton fan with the remote

I have the Hampton Bay Windward II Ceiling Fan SKU 523-127. I have replaced various parts over the years including the ballast, light shade, 9" 30 Watt Circline bulb and the remote.

Hampton Bay Windward II Ceiling Fan SKU 523-127 was sold by Home Depot, and manufactured by King of Fans.

King of Fans website is: http://www.kingoffans.com
This fan can be seen by clicking on Products --> Ceiling Fans --> Click on page 9 (at the bottom of the webpage) then click on the Windward II fan picture, then you will be able to click on Download Owner's Guide.

I have the same problem and I notice that the fan goes in reverse when I turn off and back on. I have not found the solution yet but I would say that the remote has factory defects.

You must use the switch on the fan itself.

Ceiling fan does not reverse with remote

Just reporting that I called Hampton Bay about the remote not working to reverse the fan. I was told that I needed to have the fan running on low and then press reverse on the remote control. If that doesn't work, customer service told me to press reverse while running the fan on medium. (Some fans are set to reverse on low and others on medium.) Nowhere in the manual is this addressed. I had been pressing reverse with the fan turned off, which seemed to me a logical thing to do. Live and learn.
