Question about Hotpoint HSS25GFP Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

I bought a Hotpoint refrigerator in early 2004 but did not have it delivered until late 2005. After about a year the water dispenser quit working. Ice dispenser would just drag at times. Then the water dispenser just started working again. I recently went out of town and my roommate informed me that it just quit, other than the lights in dispenser compartment that just kept flickering. Now up to this point there were time when I would hear a whirring and clunking sound and then it would stop after a while. My roommate claims he did some research and beleives it is the Main control board and that there is a recall on this particular part for my particular frig. Problem is.....he cannot remember how he got to that forum....how do I find out about this recall....I have gone to Hotpoint.com but cannot find any forum that would give me this info I bought a Hotpoint refrigerator in early 2005. After about a year the water/ice dispenser quit working. Ice dispenser kept making ice but would not dispense it. The lights in the back of the freezer part wear the ice is just keep flickering. Now i am hearing a whirring and clunking sound and then it would stop after a while. The whirring and clunking noise is back and the refrigerator is not cooling. What can i do? Has anyone found out if these parts are recall.

Ice maker not working

my icemaker has a wire overfill sensor which shuts off the icemaker if there is too much ice in the basket. If this wire gets pushed up it will stop making ice until level lowers OR manually lowered.

We have a Hotpoint side by side fridge. It always makes

check the door in the dispenser if moisture is condensing and freezing so that the door won't open try manually popping the door open just before you attempt to dispense ice, maybe you'll get lucky, otherwise your going to have to get a technician to come and check the micro-switch for the dispenser

Water dispenser is not working no water dispenser

If the light is dimming when you try to get ice (dimming then getting bright in cycles) then thisis a common problem and GE will fix it. The Main circuit board on the back goes bad causing the ice\water dispenser to quit working then eventually the fridge quits cooling. Call 800-386-1215 and tell them the problem. There is a recall for the board

It just quit after a couple of months of very little use.

Most likely you have a defrost problem. When you unplug it for a couple of days, it thaws out and you plug it back in and it works until it freezes up again. Possible problem ...1 of 3...defrost timer...2 of 3...defrost heater...3 of 3...defrost bi-metal.

WATER QUIT RUNNING IN DOOR

Okay. My appliance is around four years old. The first time the water quit working was about a year ago (ice cubes / dispenser was fine). I just let it go and didn't worry about it. One day months later, I found it functional again. That lasted about a month or two, then it recently quit again. Tonight, I located the water supply line coupling under the unit on the left side under the freezer door, about five inches from the hinge. I separated the coupling (push lock type) and pressed the water dispenser lever. After a few seconds, the water flowed out just fine. I re-attached the coupling, turned the freezer coldness selector to 0 (off) opened the freezer door and fetched my wife's blow dryer. I ran the dryer along the inside of the freezer door near the black door seal frrom the hinge up to the water/ice dispencer compartment. I also ran it all along the back of the dispenseer compartment to the handle side of the door as I am unsure of where the water line runs. After about ten minutes of this, I attempted to dispense water with no luck. I continued with the blow dryer until the plastic and even the door seal were very warm to the touch. I closed the door and attempted to dispense water once again, and this time it worked. I turned the coldness selector back on. This time I set the freezer to 3 and the fridge to 7. I ran several cups of water through the dispenser since it's been sitting in the line for a while before drinking any. As for the "reservoir," I don't where or if one exists, but heating up the inside of the door from hinge to dispenser worked perfectly. Hope this helps someone!

Cheers!

My new refrigerator's ice maker and water dispenser doesnt work

Its probably way too late, but ours was delivered / came with the water pipe being crushed at the front right at the bottom of the fridge/freezer. So I would check the full length of this small diameter pipe.

Clicking, no water or ice, power problem?

first i wold check the micro switch that the acuator paddle trips next i would replace the watervalves which is the most likely cause of this finally id replace the control bd as some early ges had a promblem with this there is also a solinoid in there for opening the ice chute door but that wouldnt affect the water but may cause a voltage drop if its getting bad id change the water valves the ice is on one valve the door water is on the other

Water not getting to dispenser, but does get to ice maker.

Hi All,
The fix to the "GE/Hotpoint Secret" frozen water dispenser problem is the Dispenser Water Tube Heater Kit, P/N WR49X10173 that can be purchased at Sears. Just a few bucks. My Hotpoint (model HSM25GFRA5A) had the same issue and GE would not tell me anything but required a technician to come out. The technician had no clue but after making some calls found the heater at Sears and ordered it delivered to me. He had to setup a return appointment but I canceled it after getting the parts and fixing it myself. The instructions are in the kit. Since most all GE/Hotpoint refrigerators (same model group of course) use the same parts/assemblies this will work for lots of folks. See pic below. If the area behind the cover looks like this it may be the part. Feel free to email me for help on this (rkjobe@military.com). Piece of cake.
