In most cases is the screen is covered with vertical lines all the way accross the screen then the T-Con module is at fault. The t-con board is replaceable without having to replace the entire LCD panel which would usually make it cheaper than replacing the TV. The part number I come up with is 1-857-213-11. You probably have a Bad LCD panel or a LCD controller. Either way, you must replace the LCD Panel because they come as one piece.

Tap the "Theater" button on the remote. You should see either "Theater Mode: On" or "Theater Mode: Off". If it is off, tap it again to turn it on and wait for it to go away. Now tap again (should say "Theater Mode: On") and then press and hold it for about a second. This should actually turn it off, as opposed to just pretending to. Works on my larger Sony KDL.
