Your problem sounds like the drum/tub drive clutch is worn. Especially if the motor operates fine and attempts to spin the tub. This model is a direct drive unit, no belts, so if the motor operates during the spin and drain cycles but the tub is barely moving, only two problems can cause this, bad clutch (which is engaged only during the spin cycles) or worn drive coupling on the motor. If the coupling were a problem, though, you would also notice sluggish or erratic agitation during the wash cycle.

Hope this helps

I need to correct my earlier solution. The machine should not try to spin while it is draining. So if it spins slowly, there may still be too much water in the tub. Easy to check and rule this out first. Open the lid and insert a small screwdriver in the hole by the lid rest to activate the lid switch, DO NOT PUT HANDS IN THE MACHINE while doing this test. Check to ensure all water is drained from tub before it attempts to spin. If there is still water in tub at this point, there be drain hose blockage or the drain pump is malfunctioning. If all water is drained and it still spins slowly, then either the motor coupling is slipping or there is a tub clutch problem.

if it spins slowly but atleast spins? You may have a slipping clutch, bad brake assembly or if belt driven a loose or worn belt. maybe even a worn down motor coupler

Check for a loose grub screw in the pulley that is not transferring the shaft motion to the pulley. It will ne a hex hole and will require an allen key to tighten it uo

Kenmore washer drains but won't spin.

the first thing you should check would be that you had pressed the motor coupling far enough onto the motor shaft and the the shaft on the gear case the shafts should be flush with the coupling if not this will cause a bind on the motor and also cause it to have a hard time starting

Kensmore 70 series

Often times, the coupling is not fitted completely, and the excess pressure is binding the motor or gearbox up

Not a guaranteed solution, but something to check

reopen the case and motor, and use a dowel and hammer to ensure the spiders are fully pressed onto the gearbox and motor shafts
