I have the Whirlpool RF368LXKQ range. I turned the autoclean on and about a minute later FSE 1 appeared on the led screen with a beeping sound. The oven door will not open now.

it means bake range over temperature.

have a technician check out the oven temp sensor. you may have a short in wiring or it may need to be replaced.

SOURCE: gas oven door locked after autocleaning-- will not

set the selfclean and after you hear it lock down then cancel the operation and wait to give it time to unlock ,,, may take up to 10 minutes ,,, if it dont unlock you will need to get into the back of it and run the door latch back by hand
Take the back cover off the the stove. UNPLUG THE STOVE
On the left rear facing the back of the range youll see that the timer motor had stopped.may sure you unplug the input(230 volt power) leading to the stove, then unpluggand insulate the wiring to the timer motor and the microswitch on top of it ( 4 wires). Then take the long steel wire off of it and unlatch the oven door.
this probably had something to do with the timer motor on the self cleaning cycle and that it was stuck
Do NOT use the self cleaning function unless you fix the timer motor. Replace it or clean it.
Hope this helps

Range intrupted during autoclean - oven remains locked.

Pull out the range and unplug it. Remove the back and look on the side wall for a small disk [the thermal fuse] with two wires attached to it. Remove rhe two screws holding this disk to the wall of the range, then pull off the two wires and temporarily patch the two wires together using some electrical tape. Now plug your range back in. IF the door unlocks you will know that your thermal fuse must be replaced. It will cost about thirty dollars at your local appliance parts store.

I put on a pizza and hit the autoclean button by mistake. How do I shut off the autoclean?

You have to go to the circuit breaker box and shut the switch that powers the stove, then turn the switch back on and it will release the auto-clean!

Whirlpool oven

When I had a similar problem, the door wouldn't unlock even after unplugging, waiting 30 minutes, and plugging the oven back in. I finally had to manually unlock the oven by turning the lock latch motor myself.

Here's a good page that describes what the lock latch motor looks like and where it's located. Of course, there is 220V current running around inside there, so please unplug before removing the back access cover and put it back on before plugging the oven back in.

My symptoms:
  • Oven failed to complete auto-clean cycle.
  • Oven started beeping; control panel showed FSE 1
  • About a minute after plugging in, oven started beeping and displaying FSE 1 again
Once I unlocked the door manually and plugged back in, the oven started behaving normally.
