Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

It would appear the auger is feeding too fast in my recently purchased Heilsa 28000 through Canadian Tire Corporation. The burning pot is oveflowing into the firebox and the chute is backed up causing fire to flare up outside the burning pot and firebox. I am using quality pellets consistent in size with majority 1" in length. Instruction would lend me to believe the auger speed was set at the factory so not an option to adjust. Any advice or suggestion to correct this problem would be appreciated. I reside in Thunder Bay Ontario and use the stove in my garage so the unit is used as required, not on all the time. Thank you Willi

If you are sure the dampers are set properly and the seals are good it could be a defective timer running too fast causing it to call for pellets too much.
I bought a cheap Chinese stove that fed pellets too fast so I added a $10 dimmer switch to slow down the feed. It also saved me a bag of pellets a day so I made a YouTube video about it here for anyone stuck with one of these cheap Chinese stoves or having a problem with pellets feeding too fast in other stoves.

SOURCE: Hello: We own a Napolean Pellet

If this was mine... I would be using an electrical meter and then following the wireing backwards from the motor to see where the electric is stopping at...
It is unlikely that the thermostat has any kind of reset, but it is very likely that it is bad...

There also is a good possibility that the door feed switch is bad... if you have power to one side of it and not the other when it is in the closed position then it is bad...

SOURCE: My St. Croix Hastings pellet

Check for power to the auger motor... power but no run equals bad motor and/or jammed auger... no power means bad board or high limit cutout needs reset...

You will need to do some checking and try ti figure out what is going on....
From the mention of the squeaking I would say that maybe a bearing went out on the auger and siezed up which may have also burnt out the motor...

Sounds lie an Ignition Box problem. Quadra Fire recently redesigned their Ignition Boxes, so your may wan to replace yours. In addition, contact Quadra Fire Technical Service and speak to Steve Tate. He's a real guru when it comes to this problem. Don't settle for anyone else.

Hope this helps solve your problem.

SOURCE: We have an Envirofire pellet

You didn't mention which model Envirofire Pellet Stove you have, but generally they all have a heat overload switch, which stops the auger from feeding pellets if the stove gets to hot. They may be faulty. Or The Auger Timing Control Module may have failed. Depending on the age of the stove the gasket material around the door may need replacing. If it's not a tight fit, it's sucking air into the stove and causing it to run more than it should. Normally, I would say, "If all else fails, contact their Technical Service Dept." But, apparently they don't want the consumer contacting them, as there is no contact info on their website. Nor, is there any contact info on the manufacturer's website, Sherwood Industries. "Any technical service questions should be directed to your local dealer."

Hope this helped to get you headed in the right direction in solving the problem.

The burner motor stopped working and I can no longer order parts for my heilsa QCPS 28000 pellet stove. Could it just be plugged and if not are there universal parts.

If you are able to disassemble it get the motor out and clean and examine it. If it is a brushed motor Ace Hardware carries brushes for electric motors just take the motor with you to match the brushes. Use electronic components cleaner to clean the motor. It can be found at auto parts stores. Be sure to lubricate the bearings or bushings inside the motor while reassembling it

Who to may the guard on a miter saw move when it is pushed down.

The guard should move freely, if it is not it is either bent or mounted wrong. Find the make and model number and check with the manufacturer about getting an exploded view diagram with part numbers. Comparing the diagram to the machine should answer your question.

We have a heilsa pellet stove model#QCPS-28000 ,its dropping pellets to fast ,how do I adjust the feed.

It is not possible for the manufacture to factory set your stove to work properly without some adjustments. The dampers help control the amount of airflow supplied for combustion.
A damper PUSHED IN all the way, maximizes concentrated air flow to the burn pot. This will maintain a robust fire.
The Auger timing is designed to be run, in most conditions, with the dampers closed.
In some areas/conditions, it mybe necessary to adjust the damper open slighty in order to slow down the flame and allow the pellets to keep pace with the rate of burn. This should be monitored closely to ensure you have the propoer feed rate established. If dampers are opened too much, the rate of burn will be very slow and the pellets will build up.
This setting needs to be fine tuned to according to your location and elevation. It is recommended that you start with the dampers pushed in to start.

how to change control board on a heilsa pellet stove

The auger is not turning to fill the burn pot with pellets. Can hear the motor run but it will not turn it.

Have you recently changed the brand of pellets form what you have used in the past? If so, please understand that no two wood pellet manufacturers make their pellets the same way. If this is the case, you will have to retweak your stove to that brand of pellets you're now using. Also, check the auger to make sure it's not jammed and that auger shaft is properly fitted into the auger drive motor coupling..

Hope this helps solve your problem.

Pelpro pellet stove will not start. Press the start button, igniter button lights up but nothing happens.

Is the auger light coming on to and dropping pellets into the burn pot? If the auger light is not coming on, you probably have an issue with the board controlling it. If the auger light is coming on, and pellets are dropping into the burn pot and it is still not lighting, then you have only a few other possible problems.
1. The air damper is not allowing enough air in, so pull the damper rod out 1/8" increments until it lights.
2. Your ignitor is faulty and not producing enough heat to light the stove. You can either contact a local dealer and get a replacement ignitor, or you can manually light the stove with a special firestarting gel made for pellete stoves. When you press the start button look into the burn pot. If the ignitor isn't bright orange, you aren't getting enough heat from it.

Hope this helps...good luck.
