My sony TV, when I press the power button it sounds like it is going to turn on then the standby button blinks 10 times then stops for 30 secs and then blinks another 10 times. What is wrong?

Hi,

Flashing of the standby LED light 10 times (KP-46WT520) is a "High Voltage Protection".
Affected parts are as follows :
• Q8014 or Q8013 have shorted replace along with R8051 on D Board.
• IC8005 is damaged (D Board).

You must know how to test transistors, resistors using the multimeter if you are going to DIY.
If you don't have necessary tools and test instrument and can't troubleshoot the unit yourself, I would advice you to seek for an assistance of a qualified TV Technician to isolate the above faulty parts.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

5 blinks on a sony wega KP-46WT520

needs convergence chips, stk392-570, and possibly one or more blown picofuses, you probably need a tv repairman, extensive soldering required.

NO SOUND AUDIO

Just to be sure, it isn't on SAP is it?
That would be under the MTS/SAP button.

If that's not it, are there any other distinguishing features that you notice?- A buzzing or a clicking or peculiar light flashing?
I wouldn't be able to help with that, but the next person might!
