How do i light the pilot light for the hayward

The lighting instructions are usually located inside the heater on the inside of the access panel or on the firewall near the gas valve.

Most millivolt heaters require you to turn the gas valve knob to the pilot light position and then depress the knob while lighting the pilot through the pilot hole. This varies depending on the exact model.

Looking to find out if my gas fireplace unit has a "milli volt gas valve" to change it to a remote control unit. Model # CGG363OP Is this remote capable and if so can you sell me a remote for...

Marty, I would really like to help you, but the DESA/Comfort Glow Model Number you listed is incorrect. Please check & confirm it and get back to me.

To visually tell if your gas control valve is Millivolt or not. First, look at the pilot assembly. If it has a thermopile attached to the top of the pilot, it's millivolt controlled. If you are currently using a wall switch to turn the burner ON, it's millivolt controlled. If the control valve has 3-electrical terminals on the side of it, it's millivolt controlled.

As far as selling you a remote control kit is concerned, we at FixYa do not sell any products of any type. But, you can buy them from a hearth store in your area or online. I would recommend looking for a SkyTech Remote Control Kit, as they are one of, if not the best on the market. Plus, they come in a a host of models depending on what you want the remote control to do.

Hope this helps you and thanks for choosing FixYa.

SF error

I think you must be mistaken about your heater being a millivolt heater. They have not mfg these heaters for some time. And they probably would not give you an SF error. If you have an SF error, it is a newer model with a digital board. Millivolts usually have two analog temperature dials on them and no digital readouts. That should be the part. HTH

Can/ how to adjust millivolt seeting for a lower power pump?

Before you do anything, check with Hayward as to the minimum flow they require to maintain safe temperatures in the heater. You may have to throttle the heater back. They may have a lower value pressure switch you could use, too.

I need a new thermostat for a Montgomery Ward SFB50145B wall furnace but I do not know what model or brand to get. Carlos R.

If this is a gas wall heater, any millivolt thermostat will work. Thats millivolt as opposed to a 24 volt type. There should be only 2 wires and the thermostat is just a switch.

I have a hydrotherm boiler with a millivolt gas valve and when i go to hook my thermostat wires up the pilot drops way down and my millivolt reading drops to 16mv why is that

Make sure your thermostat can be used with a millivolt system. Most thermostats are for 24 volt systems and don't work for millivolt systems. Also your thermostat wiring cannot be too long and it also needs to be the correct gauge. Normally the thermostat wire size should be 18 AWG up to 50 feet in distance. Also all your wiring connection have to be clean and tight(solid connections). If your connections are the slightest bit loose your millivolts will drop.
