Ruud 300 thermostat in heat pump mode and I don't have the manual to get it out of that mode. It was working fine then switched to this mode. No more cold air. I live in Florida so I don't have a heat pump installed. I remember I had to switch to Electric mode but its a buncha codes. How do I switch it? Thanks

Hi thanks for the input, it's getting hot.

The unit defaults to Heat Pump when new for some reason.

I've pulled the batteries and the unit from the connections but it will prob be the same.

The guy admitted to no knowing a thing about the unit.

I had to go into the menu and setup to Electric from Heat pump.

Any idea how to do that?

The ruud uhc-tst305unms model resets to Heat Pump mode.
I need to get it to electric mode and don't have the manual for the proper codes.

Any idea why "cool" is flashing?

If you haven't done alot of reconfiguring... pull cover and disconnect the red power wire and the common or wire on the c terminal...take the batteries if it has any in it out as well.. wait a few minutes and re-install wires and batteries should reset back to factory default settings

How to hookup Auxiliary heat (and/or use an extra wire at the thermostat)

They don't always use the correct wire colors,if it is labeled w it is for your strip heat, shouldn't hurt to hook it up,most likely they used it for the strip heat, most heat pumps are wired to turn on your strip heat when the heatpump is in defrost mode and it is controlled by the heat pump, you can hook this to the emerg. heat or w2 :)

I only have two settings. Which is which and how so?

I think you probably have a heat pump. Aux heat is electrical resistance heat coils that produce heat when the heat pump can not produce enough to keep the temperature up (caused by low outside temperature or a problem with the refrigerant system). This resistance heat can be switched on by the emerg. heat button. It also can come on automaticlly (sp) and will be indicated by the aux being shown on the thermostat. Sometime if you set the heat up several degrees by thermostat the aux will come on to help the system catch up to the desired temperature setting. The emerg. heat is a way to turn on the AUX manually. If you do not have a heat pump system then it is possible that you have a heat pump thermostat installed on a non heat pump system. Emergency heat and Aux are both the secondary.

Hope this makes sense1

Ruud heating/ac unit blowing only cold air in heating mode

Do you have gas or electric heat. If you have gas then you do not have a heat pump. You should in most cases have a red, yellow, white, and green wires coming to the thermostat. R should go to rc/rh G should go to green Y should go to Y and w should go to W. Also the switches on back should be switched to non heat pump and gas rather than electric. Hope this helps.

If you have a Gas furnace in the Attic then the answer is yes. The outside condenser will not run if in fact you have a gas furnace.

Ruud heat pump high pressure cut off problem

That's going to be in your installer configuration. Check and make sure the G terminal has a wire connected to it at the tstat , and that connection it tight. In the configuration menu, make sure it is set for a heat pump, elected heat. It seems to me that the tstat doesn't know its connected to a heat pump. Should be able to locate aodel # for tstat on the back of it. And ask Mr. Google for a manual, if you don't have 1. Hope this helps!
