Are we talking about the cover to compressor /// first take the back panel off of the rear of unit several quarter inch screws or phillips screws will be required to remove....next you will need to make sure unit is unplugged and have a straight screw driver ..normally there is a slot in the side of the cover you can put it in and press to relieve pressure and the cover should popp off .. some are a pain in the rear but it will come off... good luck to you please vote

Refrigerator clicks then hums but does not get the compressor going. Bad compressor - how do you test if starter switch or compressor?

The clicking sound you hear is the overload relay trying to start the compressor. The humming sound is the compressor. Purchase a overload relay kit. Unplug the unit. Remove the bottom back cover. On the side of the compressor is a black box. Usually held on by hard wire clips. Remove the cover. Inspect for burned wires. Take note of the relay components. Remove them and lay them out in the order and orientation in which they were removed. If you see burn marks on the you have a bad relay, also the white 'V' shaped component - shake it. If it rattles it is bad. Replace with the new overload. If everything looks good. With a multi-meter measure the Ohms across the three pins on the compressor. You will get One high reading. Across the other two you will get lower readings. The two lower readings when added together must equal the high reading. If they do not you have a bad compressor. To replace a compressor is a major repair. The cost is usually $600.00-$750.00.

Rule of thumb; "If the repair cost is 1/3 or more of your initial purchase price of the unit - Buy a new unit".

Asd2522wrb04 amana side by side refrigerator. clicks like it is coming on. then goes off. nothing freezes or cold. Why?

I believe what is happening here is a defective start relay and overload. Right now I would pull refrigerator away from the wall and unplug. Next remove the cover over the compressor feel top of the compressor and if it is not possible to keep your hand there from heat tells me the compressor is trying to start. Keep unplugged until replacing the Start Relay Kit below. Most times the compressor that begins to do these symptoms can be fixed by replacing the=>

These parts can be found by removing the rear cover near floor and then pulling the cover on the side of the compressor. Number location 13 is the cover of the part I am talking about and location 12 in that photo is the start relay and overload. If you have trouble I will be here to assist you, Thanks Sea Breeze

HOW DO YOU REPLACE A START RELAY SWITCH ON A FRIGIDAIRE SIDE BY SIDE MODLE FRU26SA

Power off i.e unplugged
Open the back
Remove retaining clip on wiring side of compressor plastic cover.
NOTE wiring connections to terminals on the OLD relay. 1, 2 4 4 ect... make a simple wite color to terminal number sketch.
PULL off PTC relay WITH terminals by pulling HORIZONTALLY (Usually to the left / 9 O'clock position)
NOTE the thermal overload comes off WITH the PTC relay.
Remove wire from Thermal overload terminal and transfer the thermal overload to the new PTC relay.
Slide NEW PTC relay onto compressor terminals
Transfer remaining wires from OLD PTC to the correct terminal on the new PTC relay.

TEST compressor start before installing cover... PLUG in unit

After the test unplug the unit... reinstall the plastic cover and wire clip.

Reinstall back panel

Return unit to service.

My Matag Skybox compressor will not turn on. I can here it clicking and trying to come on.

HI. This is a strong indication of starter/overload relay failure. This clicking noise is coming directly fromm the relay device. it is damaged. this relay is the main starter of the compressor unit. It receives a signal from the main PCB. Once the power signal is received, the relay will regulate the starting, and stopping of the compressor, via control board and thermostat assembly. The failed relay will need to be replaced, asap. Once replaced, the unit will operate correctly. The relay is mounted on the side of the compressor. Once the bracket, and terminal wires are removed, you can gently pull it away form the compressor, to check the contacts and connections for corrosion. If any of the contacts or terminal connections are worn, replace them. Worn contacts, or corroded connections will not allow for proper current flow.

NOTE_ I would advise to locate the clicking. Make sure its coming form the compressor/relay location. There are some units of this nature out there that are fixed(compressor and relay intergraion). If this is the case, simply replace the entire compressor unit. If the clickiong is coming from the main control board(PCB), the PCB, will be the culprit.

How do I get the red&white wires out of a Starter/overload assbly

it's very easy but alittle tricky. use something thin and hard. there's a small tab on those connecting clips that you must press down while pulling the wire out of the relay.if you have a replacement relay on hand, then go head and carefully crack open the relay in order to remove the wires.
MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG UNIT B4 DOING THIS.

Burnt out relay/overload assembly, compressor won't run.

it can be difficult to get the right one for it, however there are eletronic ones on the market that will do the job.
it could have been caused from the unit cycling off and on to quick, or the compressor drawing to much current
the windings should be tested with a multimeter to see if they are faulty or not

I need to replace the flasher unit in a Audi A6

Looks like the flasher relay is in the hazard switch assembly. A couple of tabs hold the prettry faux wood decorative plate in. You edge these out from underneath with a couple of small screwdrivers. I found it easier to remove the radio/CD unit (but remember you need the 4-digit code to re-enliven it). My plate shot off along with the switch covers and ashtray cover. (I think I've found most of them). Next you edge out the hazard switch assembly from its bottom. The cheapest place to get a new $30 assembly was accessoriesgiant.com (probably made in Mexico, along with the $60 OEM part).

JennAir SxS JCD2289AES follow up Unit stopped cooling in September. Evaporator iced up. Replaced Adaptive Control Board. Problem solved-for one night only. Next morning only lights work. Have studied...

If the unit was freezing up, then the start relay and overload did not need to be replaced.

Chances are, the defrost heater(s) are burned out on the evaporator. Confirm your Make and Model number to me and I will get more info to you.
