Try taking it to a local kirby office and ask them if there is anyone in your area that can refurbish the motor instead of replacing everything. If that doesn't work ask a local dealer or call the dealer that you bought it from and tell them that you would like to trade your old one in for a newer one. I used to work for Kirby and I can guarentee that the Kirby itself, straight from the factory only runs about $200!

My Kirby G3 diamond series won't turn on

Hi There, The most common problem by far is that the cord is faulty. This is a pretty easy repair to do at home. If your machine was randomly cutting out before it stopped altogether then the cord is likely the culprit. If however it stopped all of a sudden with no warning then it is possibly a switch or motor issue which is a much harder repair to achieve for a novice.
The kirby cords are not terribly expensive (and I have linked a how to video showing how its done) so if you need a new one I would say DIY is the go, otherwise spend the $25 get a pro to take a look.

How long is Kirby motor got warranty?

It depends. Did you buy it from someone who will honor the warranty? If not you may not have any warranty. Check first with the person you bought it from. You may find if you bought it from someone who came to your house to demo it the company you bought it from is no longer around or in business. Try to find a Kirby warranty center in your area. Be careful though, Make sure to get price quotes before any work is performed. I have many people tell me they took a Kirby vacuum in for maintenance or a minor repair and got hit with a $500 or $700 repair bill when they went to pick it up

My kirby is making a very loud noise and somehow the white fan inside has broken. I have the pieces. What do I need to do? I can't find a vacuum repair place near my location. Can I fix this myself?

What you need to do is a long process of taking apart the vacuum apart. Your fan broke so you are going to need a new one. So go to Kirbys website and look up a nearby vacuum store. Or More recommended a Kirby. It is a long process of taking the vacuum apart,

Sparks from the Kirby Motor

1. Do you think this may be the problem?
YES

2. How come it continues to rotate?
Motor armature consists of multiple coils and just some of them burned so even though it keeps spinning it does not function properly.

3. Do I need to replace the armature?
We have switch replacement instructions HERE and they will take you as far as accessing the motor. We do not have motor assembly instructions yet but if you get that far - motor is not that hard to reassemble. You may have to spend some time getting tolerance ring back in and make sure you install finger spring properly.

Good Luck

Re: find a repair for vacuum

Don't know in Australia, but there must be a local repair shop that will repair Kirby's. Sometimes a Sewing and Vacuum store will also offer repair and parts for various vacuums.

There is a safety switch in the motor area that, if not engaged correctly, can result in your vacuum not running. The most common thing that's wrong is that at the bottom part of the motor, where the cord plugs in, the cord is in between the motor and the plastic holder for the bag and it's not letting the bag click on all the way and so it's not pushing in the safety switch enough for it to turn on. Also, you may want to remove the head and reattch it and make sure it's lined up properly. If none of this works, then you could have a cord problem or your safety switch might be out. These are very fixable problems. Find your nearest vacuum repair shop. A cord should cost no more than 30 dollars and a switch with labor will cost around 80 dollars. If you can't find anyone, contact us at 1-866-509-1952 and we can help.
