Question about Kyocera CS-2550 Black and White Copier

1 Answer

Unable to "Scan to PC" for anybody else, but me!

I am able to scan to my pc which has an ip of 10.0.0.92, but I can't configure any other pc.

Does each computer have to have file utility running? I already installed it on another & added a folder in his list, but it still won't scan.

On the folder # in file utility - does it have to match the # for the destination pc? If so, I already did this too.

This is the confusing part:
The destination List (PC) asks for:
• Name - User2
• Registration Number - 003
• PC address - 10.0.0.35
• Save number - 001

File Utility asks for:
• Folder # - 001 - does this need to match "Save #" or "Registration #"?
• Folder address - "C:\Scans"

Any help would be appreciated.

I noticed that it has something to do with the "Registration Name"...

    • I went in and changed my name by one letter both on the Destination List and Sender List and sending scans to my PC no longer worked.

    • I changed my name back on both lists and it worked again!

What does the Registration Name need to match on the network? Exchange username/PC User, ???

I finally got them all working!!! As it turns out the problem computers had the windows firewall blocking the incoming scans. Thanks for your help!

The Save number and the Registration Number must match, folder # will be same as save and registration number.

needs to match nothing, this is just the name that shows up in the common book for scanning. When you changed it on the webpage, it probabaly did not keep the original registration number, it changed that back to 001.

  • Bryan Luther Jul 10, 2008

if the save number when you register it on website is the same as yours set up in your scan to pc destination list, then the copier is trying to scan to the save number which is your PC not the user 2 pc. The way it should be is:

    • Name - User2
    • Registration Number - 003
    • PC address - 10.0.0.35
    • Save number - 003

    Then is Scanner file utility:

    No. 003

    Folder: C:\Scans

Hi, If it is a network copier then it may happens. There will be a button that provide you all information about the copier by pressing it. You will find the IP Address of the copier in this information page. Disconnect the copier from system and print the information page by pressing the button. Then connect it again. Open internet explorer put the Present IP address in address space. Then put the new IP address in the configuration page of the copier in internet explorer. Reboot the system and the copier.

Sorry my scaner not working but printer will be working please tell me whats wrong

  1. The firewall must allow the following traffic.
    • TCP on ports 9400 and 9401
    • UDP on port 6000
  2. Make sure Scan Manager is configured for the correct IP address of the printer. If Scan Manager will not launch from SmartPanel and it does not show up in Control Panel, check <WindowsDirectory>\twain_32\Samsung. Without Scan Manager installed the printer will not be able to scan to PC.

To use Scan Manager you will need to have installed and configured the following items:

  • Installed the Print Driver, including the Smart Panel application
  • Installed the Scan Driver, including the Scan Manager application
  • Have an active connection between the Printer and PC

Important: If you don't have these items in place, stop now and perform the installation.

To scan to the PC using Scan Manager, follow these steps:

  1. Right click Smart Panel in the task bar, and then select Scan Manager. (Scan Manager Admin dialog appears)
  2. namo_fileview.jsp?type=nfs&pid=decisiontree&did=151998&cid=bdbe6a5u2kt1@namo.co.kr&sep=%7c

  1. Select the Printer you want to use, and then click Quick Scan. (Quick Scan dialog appears)
  2. namo_fileview.jsp?type=nfs&pid=decisiontree&did=151998&cid=pdq8czuzqk7f@namo.co.kr&sep=%7c

  1. Once the Quick Scan dialog appears set the following parameters:
    • Save Location - To change the default location click the Folder Icon to Browse for Folder.
    • File Name - The default file name is the date and time the scan is performed. To change the File Name, select the File Name field.
    • File Format - The file type selected will be the default file type for each consecutive scan. Select from the following formats. (TIFF, PDF, BMP, and JPG)

    namo_fileview.jsp?type=nfs&pid=decisiontree&did=151998&cid=q0imt82cnhs9@namo.co.kr&sep=%7c

  1. After entering the previous information, click OK. (Scan Manager appears)
  2. namo_fileview.jsp?type=nfs&pid=decisiontree&did=151998&cid=1oy6sc87xa6m@namo.co.kr&sep=%7c

  1. Click Scan to scan the document to the PC.
  2. namo_fileview.jsp?type=nfs&pid=decisiontree&did=151998&cid=45q4kejs8a31@namo.co.kr&sep=%7c

For additional information about Scan Managers' features and settings, click the question mark icon (?) at the top of the application window.

Unable to download scanned documents from KM350

this model does not support sub addressing for scanning so all the computers would have to be in the same subnet to scan.

You are getting a failure sheet. This happens when the scan doesnt go through. I think you are reffering to SMB scanning, which needs to have the following setup on both the MFP and the copier.

Host ID or NAME - IP address or hostname with DNS resolution.

Share Name - This is your SMB share name or folder share name on the remote PC

User Name - This is an account that is configured on the remote PC

Password - This is the password for the account setup on the remote PC.

Some things to keep in mind: Third party firewalls can block the bizhub from writing files.

Set share permissions to full control. (under sharing tab> permissions buttion)

Set NTFS permissions to at least write access. (if you have a "security" tab on the shared folder.

Or, you may see something like "allow network users to change my files" on the sharing tab. This basically does the same under different configuration scenario.

One last thing. If you havent changed anything since the problem started, it is probably just something like an expired password on the account that is setup for the copier.

Good Luck.

Scanner

to be able to scan to pc you have to have the scan file utility set up on the pc

the scan file utility is on the CD that came with the copier.
you can Google the file if need be

when you have loaded the file you will need to go to
start, all programs, kyocera (scanner file utility and open it

once in configuration you will need to do the following

select setup
on the top you will see a box, type in 001
file destination, you should hit the box next to this and select kyocera/scan file

press ok and you are done

Next
get the ip address of the scanner, you will find this in scanner default when you have pressed thecounter/system menu button

get back into normal copy mode

on your web browser type the scanner ip into the address bar and you will get into the scanner command center

press the start icon bottom left of your desktop, go to run and type in cmd

once in dos mode type in ipconfig, this will give tou the destination address for your scans

now back to the command center, select sender info (left side menu) and type in kyocera after selecting 001 (blue numbers) and submit

then go to destination setup (scan to pc) and under 001 (blue) enter the relavent info, the address will be your pc's ip address.

say no to all password requests

and submit

very important now is to close the browser as you cannot scan when the command center is open

please take the time to rate this fix

MY HP WIRELESS OFFICE JET MODEL #J6480 ALL IN ONE PRINTER WILL NOT SCAN. ATTEMPTING TO DO SO RESULTS IN A POP-UP WINDOW WHICH READS "NO HP DEVICES HAVE BEEN DETECTED>" I HAVE ANHP TOUCH SMART PC RUNNING...

Here is one simple thing to try (not guaranteed but it fixes the problem sometimes):
  • Turn off your OfficeJet
  • Shutdown your PC
  • Turn on your OfficeJet
  • Turn on your PC
  • Try scanning
The reason this this works some of the time is that the software has an incorrect IP address for the OfficeJet.

You might also need to configure your firewall to allow scanning. Try the above first and see if it helps.

If this does not fix the problem, as a temporary work around, there is a way to scan using the web browser on your PC (e.g., Internet Explorer) and type in the IP address of your OfficeJet, which you can get from the front panel of the OfficeJet. You will see an option to scan.

Setup scan to pc function

Find the scanner on the network... you can use a tool like Advanced IP Scanner to search the subnet and then just hunt down the IP that belongs to the device -- it may not have a name registered.  Visit each potential IP via browser (http://192.168.1.50), one will show you the Kyocera web page.  The device has two, one for printer, one for scanner.. each one on its own IP....
That's how far I've got with mine - i was hoping it supports SMB scanning, but it may not.  So now I am looking for the rest of the setup.

Scanner will not connect to PC

Make sure that the scanner file utility is running on the computer you are scanning to. Go to Start - Programs - Scanner User Software - Scanner File Utility. It will open in the system tray by the clock on the PC. Try to scan again. If still have the same error, go to the webpage of the scanner (just enter the IP address of the scanner NIC in Internet Explorer. Go to the bottom left side of the page and click Scan to PC Destination List. Click on the number to the left of the name you are scanning to. check the IP address listed on the webpage and make sure it matches the IP address of the Computer you are scanning to. One of these should fix it.

Please remember to rate you answers.
