Just set up email as normal, scan doc to pc,check docs or scan folder on pc for scanned doc, open new email and click the attach icon, navigate to scanned doc folder, highlight and press ok, then type address and send.
If it is a network copier then it may happens. There will be a button that provide you all information about the copier by pressing it. You will find the IP Address of the copier in this information page. Disconnect the copier from system and print the information page by pressing the button. Then connect it again.
Open internet explorer put the Present IP address in address space. Then put the new IP address in the configuration page of the copier in internet explorer.
Reboot the system and the copier.
Scan Manager is configured for the correct IP address of the printer. If
Scan Manager will not launch from SmartPanel and it does not show up in
Control Panel, check <WindowsDirectory>\twain_32\Samsung.Without
Scan Manager installed the printer will not be able to scan to PC.
use Scan Manager you will need to have installed and configured the following
the Print Driver, including the Smart Panel application
the Scan Driver, including the Scan Manager application
an active connection between the Printer and PC
If you don't have these items in place, stop now and perform the installation.
scan to the PC using Scan Manager, follow these steps:
click Smart Panel in the task bar, and then select Scan Manager. (Scan Manager

Location - To change the default location click the Folder Icon
to Browse for Folder.

Firstly if you are to scan to a "shared folder" on server, have you configured the access rights for the shared folder? Depends on how you want it, you may want create a User "LaserJet" in AD and use this account for all scans.
You should be able to do more configuration using it's IP Address web interface.
Here is one simple thing to try (not guaranteed but it fixes the problem sometimes):
Turn off your OfficeJet
Shutdown your PC
Turn on your OfficeJet
Turn on your PC
The reason this this works some of the time is that the software has an incorrect IP address for the OfficeJet.
You might also need to configure your firewall to allow scanning. Try the above first and see if it helps.
If this does not fix the problem, as a temporary work around, there is a way to scan using the web browser on your PC (e.g., Internet Explorer) and type in the IP address of your OfficeJet, which you can get from the front panel of the OfficeJet. You will see an option to scan.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
Find the scanner on the network... you can use a tool like Advanced IP Scanner to search the subnet and then just hunt down the IP that belongs to the device -- it may not have a name registered. Visit each potential IP via browser (http://192.168.1.50), one will show you the Kyocera web page. The device has two, one for printer, one for scanner.. each one on its own IP....
That's how far I've got with mine - i was hoping it supports SMB scanning, but it may not. So now I am looking for the rest of the setup.
Make sure that the scanner file utility is running on the computer you are scanning to. Go to Start - Programs - Scanner User Software - Scanner File Utility. It will open in the system tray by the clock on the PC. Try to scan again. If still have the same error, go to the webpage of the scanner (just enter the IP address of the scanner NIC in Internet Explorer. Go to the bottom left side of the page and click Scan to PC Destination List. Click on the number to the left of the name you are scanning to. check the IP address listed on the webpage and make sure it matches the IP address of the Computer you are scanning to. One of these should fix it.
