I have an LG hdtv/monitor, and it keeps showing "invalid format" on the PC setting, all other settings work well. I know it's a resolution error, but how would I go about adjusting the resolution when I can't even see the desktop?
-   I have 37" LG HDTV. Yesterday I connected it to my laptop through RGB-PC cable in my HDTV as my monitor, the result is OK. But now when I repeated again the same connection today it appears to be "invalid format".
How can I fix this problem. Please comment...-   Guest

Hi, I have an LG 1915S, (5 yrs old now), and up until about a week ago, it performed admirably. Suddenly, when I boot up the pc, the POST/BIOS screen flashes on and instantly goes off again, with the power light staying green. If I turn it off and on again, it does exactly the same thing. If I press the "auto" setting button, I can see VERY faintly, the image adjusting box come on, but it disappears again once it's adjusted itself. I've read a few posts on here about this problem so this morning I took the screen apart and had a look at the inverter board for any obvious signs of a fault. Everything "seemed" ok, except for one capacitor, (I believe that's what it is called). This one has a slightly domed top, whereas the others were all flat. I have the image of the board here: http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z252/onetruecharlatan/ I live in the UK and but for this very annoying glitch, I love this screen. Can anyone tell me: a). Is the highlighted part the likely issue? b). If so, are these generic parts, commonly sold in the UK? c). If anyone knows the part number, would Maplins be a likely source of it? d). Would it be easier to just buy a new board outright, given cost against cost? e). Lastly, looking at the image supplied, am I even looking at the right part as the likely issue? I'm competent at most manual tasks, (mechanics, electrics, diy, etc), so soldering a new one of these in wouldn't be too much of an issue. I'd like to thank all responders in advance for their time and help. It takes roughly 15 mins or so atm to get the screen to spring into life, turning it on and off repeatedly until it "catches" O_O, and this is growing tiresome now, but for a seemingly simple fix. onetruecharlatan.
