Have you tried going into the options menu in the game and go to the controls section at the top? You have to set all of the settings to the various joystick axis in order to make the joystick work.

SOURCE: logitech dual action game pad not working on Combat arms

Yes guys, I spent 5 hours on this. You know what the problem is? Its the HackShield Pro software this game uses. Everytime you start the game you will see HackShield Pro starting up. This shild treats a gamepad as a "hacking tool". Every online game these days is protected with such shields; another example is PunkBuster. To by pass this shiled is a pain in the ****. It needs scripting and thats not legal anyways.

The only way around this is to contact HackShield and ask them to add your profiler software to their whitelist. Read the last answer in this topic for more info:

How do I custom program the buttons on a Logitech Extreme 3D Pro joystick that I bought for my Mac to use with the F/A-18 OIF game? I don't see anything in the game software for customizing the joystick. ...

I just bought a copy of ControllerMate. Solved all of my button problems with my new Extreme 3D Pro and FA-18 OIF. You can program all the buttons in any way you want. Single key or multi-key entries. I'm running it all on a new MacBook Pro 2.53 Core i5 and it works perfect.
I was astounded that the old 2003 OIF would work on this new intel mac but it does.

You need to do a calibration on the joystick. I don't know what operating system you have, but if it a PC, and you have Windows XP you can go into control panel and look under Game Controllers, it should list your joystick. Click Properties and then select the Settings Tab to calibrate your joystick.

Hope this helps.

How can I use joy stick as a mouse? I already have the driver for the joystick but can not chose it in the mouse/pointer properties

Yes you can. All you need is a software. There are many available like Xpadder, Joy2key, Pinnacle game profiler (you have to buy it), and for logitech joysticks, theres the logitech game profiler.
I have a Logitech Rumblepad 2 so I am familiar with Logitech game profiler and I help people by making profiles for their games.

To use a joystick as mouse in Windows, I have read that Xpadder and Pinnacle work. Other profilers dont work. Pinnacle costs money so you can try Xpadder. I dont know anything about that but you can read on the net how to set that up.

I recently purchased logitec extreme 3d pro joystick and a user manual did not come with it. How do I get one?

Did you purchase it open-box or second-hand? If so, you shouldn't be surprised at the lack of a manual. If you bought it new, it may not have come with one.

I personally have one of these joysticks, but I bought it so long ago that I can't remember if it came with a manual or not.

Either way, there really isn't much need for a manual for this joystick. It doesn't have any very advanced features that would require a manual. It's very simple to use:

  1. Plug it in to an open USB port on your computer.
  2. It should be automatically detected by your operating system. If not, you may have a defective joystick or a defective USB port. Try the joystick in another USB port. If the problem persists, check Logitech's website.
  3. In Windows, click Start->Control Panel->Game Controllers. You should see the joystick listed. Select it and click Properties.
  4. It should open a new window to the "Test" tab, where you can make sure all the buttons work. I suggest you click on the "Settings" tab at the top left.
  5. Click "Calibrate..." and follow the prompts. It'll ask you to keep the joystick centered and press a button on the joystick (use one of the side buttons such as 11 or 12 so that you don't inadvertently move the joystick from center).
  6. Then it'll ask you to move the joystick in complete circles. Do this several times and advance to the next step.
  7. It'll ask you to move the throttle slider up and down. Do this several times and advance to the next step.
  8. It'll ask you to set the "Z-rotation," which is the left/right twist of the handle. Do this several times.
  9. It'll ask you to center it and press a button. See step 5 above.
Now the joystick should be calibrated and ready for use. If you have multiple game controllers, you may want to click the "Advanced" tab back in the Game Controllers window and make sure the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro is selected as the preferred device.

Now start whatever game you want to use it with. You'll probably have to configure what you want the buttons on your joystick to do within the game; follow the instructions that came with the game.

Pretty simple, and like I said, there are no advanced macro functions or anything like that for this joystick.
