This is sort of my problem. It isn't the administrator password that I can't get into but one of the other users passwords. Please advise as to how to get onto another user (which is also me) and how to reset it. I set this other user up with info from my old computer just to separate it from the new one and what I have written down seems to only be for the administrator user. Please advise. Thank you....Chris
I am assuming here that you either have another computer or are using someone elses.
In technical forums, there are many floppy images you can download that will reset your administrator password to blank, allowing to to then login and change any other password you need to. Trying one of these is one sure-fire way to get into a password protected WIndows without knowing what your password is.
First though, you should try Microsoft's answer to this problem: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321305
If that doesn't work for you, get a floppy image, but be very careful, as lots of sites that offer these types of things have viruses or malware built into their web sites. Make sure all anti-virus software is up to date before doing that.
