Question about GE Monogram ZDI15C Automatic Icemaker

Open Question

GE ZDIC150 was making loud noise and producing too much ice (may have 2 problems). My repairman here in Puerto Vallarta tells me that my "board" needs replacing for $900. Can this be correct? And if so, what is the cost of the "board" in the US? I purchased this ice maker in the US 2 years ago.

SOURCE: Ge monogram ice maker makes loud churning noise

Mine has been doing the same thing and foound it was the pump cavitating (dry). What caused it on my unit is there was buildup of minerals on the sides of the freezer plate so the ice slab wouldn't slide all of the way down onto the grid. When the unit would start the next cycle the water would ramp up over the stuck slab and down into the ice bin and then the pump would start making the noise. A related problem could be the cutter grid not heating so the slabs back up and results in the same issue. Look up into the freezer plate next time it makes the noise and see if there is a slab partially stuck.

Typically this happens when the ice maker is not getting the water pressure it needs to fill the trays. Replace your filter on the ice maker and this should solve your problem.

SOURCE: GE refrigerator, ice melts in ice bin

Since your refrig is cooling , I would replace the # 4 AND # 5 thermistors . The # 4 thermistor , tells the main control board , the temp of the coils , if they need defrosted , when they are thru defrosting . This thermistor is the 1 " long , torpedo looking piece , clipped on the top left of the coils , with 2 white wires going to it . Part number WR55X10025 . It would be advisable to also replace the # 5 thermistor , located at the bottom of the freezer , slightly in front of the drain , also with 2 white wires going to it , slid into a housing . This thermistor , is the freezer thermistor , which tells the control board , the freezer temp , when to cycle off , associated with the fan speed also .

SOURCE: GE Refrigerator GSS201EPWW is making a loud noise

This is the fan motor making noise but the fan motor is probably ok. The main board supplies voltage to the motor and can cause it to make strange noises.

I have a ge adora fridge that when pressing the lever for ice makes a loud humming noise & feels like freezer wants to explode. Cab anyone tell me if they have ever run into this issue

You probably have a ice dam in your ice tray. The anger is trying to dispense if but if the cubes have frozen together and produced a large chunk of ice it cannot break up. Open the freezer door completely and lift up and pull out through ice tray. Remove ice until dam removed. Reassert tray and make sure to turn ice maker back on. It is essy to inadvertently bump switch. Try dispensing ice to see. If noise went away.
Hope this helped!

You can buy the WR55X10020 Main Control Board yourself if you like. He is possibly adding labor? If the main board is the problem yes it will be needed to allow the ice maker to work properly. Another source here=> WR55X10020 Main Control Board I will be here should you have questions, Thanks Sea Breeze

Ge monogram zdic150 ice maker cutting grid does not get hot enough to make cubes

If the cutting grid is only getting warm this would indicate a loose wire, a dirty grid or a defective grid transformer. As much as these grids cost it would pay to search for the problem that is causing this. The transformer is near the control board=> WR62X10015 Transformer

The ice dispencer would produce ice

Dear Adriana, I have the exact problem. I have yet to find a clear solution to this problem. The temp in the freeze seems to oscillate too much, and the leaking water led to a damaged light in mine.

Have you discovered a solution? It was recommended by a repairman to replace the controller board for the unit. I have yet to implement this approach. Wondering what others have discovered.

Ice make make loud sounds and doesn't make much ice

First, you should have a warranty, check to see if it is still in effect. If expired, then can you describe the sound, and about how often? Also check the freezer temp. it should be 0 deg or below for proper icemaker operation. The colder it is, the more ice is produced in a day. And yes, if the mold heater isn't working, the thing will raise hell when it tries to cycle.
