Without a bit more info, I can't say for sure. I have the same drive, it's been around for a while now and if yours has had a lot of use then I would expect it to fail soon. Has it been dropped? this could cause a bad connection between the internal drive and the usb/e-sata module or caused the HDD to fail. Have you tried a different usb cable? any printer usb cable would work. Finally, the internal HDD can be easily swapped/replaced by anybody confident with a screwdriver.
Hope this helps.

Try a replacement USB cable first. If that does not fix the problem, then the USB to SATA adapter board is faulty, in that case you will need to take out the internal disk to replace the external enclosure.
