My frigidaire ice maker is not working. there is no water in line that leads to it from the valve. the water dispenser works. also, i checked the ohms on the valve assembly and 2 of them are within specs, but the 3rd one measures 190 (specs say it should be between 200 and 300). do you feel the solenoid for the ice maker is bad? what else should i check?

there is no ice anywhere behind the panel and the line is not frozen. there is no water in the line leading to the ice maker.

there is no ice build up. i had checked the valve with a ohm meter, so i'm not convinced the valve is bad (see my first post). how can i check to see that the actual ice maker is working properly?

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve and then try the water dispenser. The water should go into your ice maker. This will tell you if the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear. If it gets water then the ice maker may start cycling when it freezes and dumps the ice.

It sounds like the valve is bad, if there's no water in it. The 190 reading could indicate a bad reading. It's hard to say if the solenoid for the ice maker is bad, until you get some water to it and check it.
I would concentrate on that valve- it sure sounds like it's bad.

The solenoid could check good but the innards of the water valve might be fouled. So even if it checked good it could still be bad. The ice maker is what powers the valve. Nothing else. Their are types of ice makers. The Compact and the Modular. my frigidaire ice maker is - themobilian_668.jpg

The compact looks like THIS

Hello

To start with you should please follow these basic troubleshooting steps

look in the back at the bottom where the main water feed comes in, its hooked to a little plastic valve, and on the other side is the plastic line that goes to the ice maker in the back.

Also, look inside freezer, unscrew little door in the back in look into the coils, if they are covered in ice, its another problem in the lower front which you will need an appliance repairman to fix, doesnt cost much, get the right person, check inside freezer first before doing anything, if no ice on the coils, order the part, that is your problem.

Check the fill tube that runs into the icemaker if it is frozen shut... You need to remove that and thaw it out and then it should work...get a hair dryer and turn it onto the back of the refrigerator where the water goes into the icemaker. Be careful not to leave it very long for fear of melting the tube, just keep doing it every so often

If all these steps do not solve the problem then i suggest you check the thermostat and solenoid for damages.

Ice maker not working on Frigidaire frs26kr4a

Good Morning Friend,

I understand that the ice maker is not working on your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# FRS26KR4A. First, make sure the wire signal arm is in the down or on position. Secondly, make sure your household water line is open. Thirdly, make sure your freezer is cold enough to keep items frozen. Fourthly, check the saddle valve, if there is one, to make sure it is not clogged or restricted by any foreign material. Lastly, Check to see if the water dispenser is dispensing water. If no water is being dispensed, the water filter could possibly be clogged and would need to be replaced. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

Frigidaire gallery side by side won't send water to ice maker tray, but will to water dispenser

Hello Jim czyryca - From what you are describing if the ice maker is not making ice but is dispensing water, sounds like the refrigerator has a frozen water line, faulty ice maker valve or bad component that sends power to the ice maker valve when needed. The ice maker cycles internally to call for water so I strongly suggest contacting a professional to move forward accurately to assist with the repairs.

Ice maker is not getting water, water dispenser is. there is notheing frozen but the line leading to the ice maker doesn't have any water in it

Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 /* Style Definitions */ table.MsoNormalTable {mso-style-name:"Table Normal"; mso-tstyle-rowband-size:0; mso-tstyle-colband-size:0; mso-style-noshow:yes; mso-style-parent:""; mso-padding-alt:0in 5.4pt 0in 5.4pt; mso-para-margin:0in; mso-para-margin-bottom:.0001pt; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:10.0pt; font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Roman";} Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Side by side Frigidaire. The water dispenser

The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze blocking the tube.. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.

Your water line could be frozen in the door. You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad.

Frigidaire water stopped working...ice maker.dispenser fine

You probably have an obstruction in filter compartment. you should remove filter and inspect o rings etc. or anything that could have clogged it up. The only other thing that could be the cause is a bad water valve. Side by sides have a double water valve. one for water ,one for ice maker. You can check this by having someone flip ice maker arm down so it calls for water and feel water valve as it runs and possibly hear it too. Hope this helps.

Frigidaire signaling water dispenser instead of ice maker

Sounds like the water solinoid valves are wired wrong. One activates The water dispenser. The other the ice maker. That, why every so often the water shoots out on the floor. The ice maker is telling the valve to open.

Frigidair frs22zrf side by side w/ front ice and water

From what you are describing, it sounds like you need a valve. Another common thing I run into is the cooling tank inside the fridge freezing. This will usually affect water through the door only. Remove the crispers and you should see a large coil of plastic water line attached to the back wall of fridge. You can check to see if it is frozen by blowing through it from the end of the line you removed from valve. BEWARE, if you blow through it, water will come out dispenser if line is not frozen. Have a towel at front of fridge.
