I have an 08 Stealth 4 x 4 golf cart. On cold days it acts up almost like it only has half power. It's 48V. The batteries/ cables / output and drawdown tests were checked by a club car dealer and are good. On warm days it appears to be just fine. Any ideas what may be causing the problem?

NO POWER WHEN PLUGGLED IN

Battery charger is probably of the intelligent type containing sophisticated circuitry which is very vulnerable to being damaged or weakened by excessive heat, voltage surges and transients. Such chargers should really be used with additional surge protection.

When such a charger fails to work there is little an owner can do other than check the supply and the fuses and connectors, both on the charger and on the golf cart. If everything that can be tested is ok it is the task for an engineer to carry out repairs.

I need a wiring diagram for fitting 12v headlights to Yamaha golf cart which is 48v powered by 6 X 8V batteries.Does it need a voltage regulator or relay?

You'll probably want to find a transformer to convert 48v to 12v. The wounds on the transformer would have a 4:1 ratio. You could do so with a regulator, but that'll burn up power and you'll need a decent heat sink to dissipate the energy. A relay is basically a switch. A transformer's the way to go.
