When I hook my Hitachi up to a mac pro with a LED Cinematic display. The display on my monitor changes to a smaller resolution and I can't increase it to normal. When I unplug the monitor it works great.

My acer windows are too large and I can't get to the apply or ok button to changed the settings

Click Start/Control Panel and look for Display or Appearance and Personalization. Open the Display then select the Settings Tab. Increase the Resolution. The higher the resolution, the smaller the icons, the more will get on the screen.

How do I increase screen resolution in PC mode running Windows XP Pro?

To change your monitor's resolution

1. Right-click the desktop, and then click Properties.

2. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.

3. Drag the Screen resolution slider to the left to decrease the resolution of your monitor, making text and pictures appear larger. Or drag the Screen resolution slider to the right to increase your monitor's resolution, making text and pictures appear smaller.

You need to change the refresh rate, some monitors operate on 60 Hertz, and others on 70 or 72 Hertz, try changing the refresh next to the resolution choices.

IT IS NOT HARDWARE PROBLEM
Change screen resolution

Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They also appear smaller, so more items fit on the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items fit on the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images might have jagged edges.

For example, 640 × 480 is a lower screen resolution, and 1600 × 1200 is a higher one. CRT monitors generally display a resolution of 800 × 600 or 1024 × 768. LCD monitors can better support the higher resolutions. Whether you can increase your screen resolution depends on the size and capability of your monitor and the type of video card you have.

  1. Open Display Settings by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Appearance and Personalization, clicking Personalization, and then clicking Display Settings.

  2. Under Resolution, move the slider to the resolution you want, and then click Apply.

The display screen got smaller. How can I bring it back to normal size?

You have to change the resolution of the screen.
Right click on the desktop, not on an icon- Properties- settings- at the "Screen Resolution" box increase the value.

The following is for Windows Vista:

TV won't recognize signal from a DVI to HDMI input adapter

I had a similar problem with a Mac Mini.  The problem was caused by a mix-matched resolution (the Mac tries to use 75Hz refresh rate, TV expects 60Hz).  The best solution I found was to remote into the Mac (I used LogMeIn.com) and change the resolution on the Mac from a remote computer until the image appears on screen.
Process: 1) Connect Mac to a normal monitor and install the LogMeIn server (or other VNC type application) 2) Connect the Mac to the TV 3) Connect to LogMeIn from another computer (preferrably one where you can see the TV) 4) Go to Applications / System Preferences / Display 5) Change the resolution to your TVs native resolution, and change the refresh rate to 60Hz

Hooking up a Mac to tv

I ran into the same problem with my "50 maxent. The manual clearly states that mac resolutions are not supported. We won't let that stop us. Step one is to download switchresx. It's a simple utility that should allow you to define custom resolutions. http://www.madrau.com/ .
Step 2 is to download chicken of the VNC. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/9517 . Once this is installed on a separate mac from the one you are trying to connect to the maxent take your mini and hook it up to the RGB port on the maxent and boot it up. Once this is done use chicken of the vnc to take control of of the mini with the other mac. Now you can change the resolution on the mini using switchresx which you installed on the mini earlier. In the case of the maxent you will need to set it to 1366x768 at 60 hz. If using another flat panel consult your user manual for the correct resolution. In my opinion there is no flat paned tv this should not work for.
Good luck!

MacBook Pro (Leopard) doesn't regconize the projector when on (No input)

You must make sure the Mac resolution is set to 1024 X 768, otherwise it won't be recognized by the PG M20X Sharp projector. This change in resolution will cause the screen size to get smaller on the mac but, it will allow the projector to recognize the computer.

How do I increase the size of my desktop and remove the blue border?

There are three size settings you can choose from, Normal, Wide and Zoom. Try changing it using the 'Size' button on the remote or by going into the On Screen Display (OSD) settings. If you don't have a manual you can get one here. Hope this helps.
