The cheapest place is via ebay.
Take your pick of any size, make sure you look at the same type!
It will be a 2.5" if a small IDE type plug with pins it is an ATA type and if it has plastic moulded connection then it is a SATA.
That is the most important thing to know.
Take the old one out and go for same design but larger if you require it.
I thinkup to 160Gb would be fine.

  • Mobile Intel Pentium 4-M Processors up to 2.4 GHz.
  • 400-MHz Front Side Bus
  • ATI Mobility Radeon 7500 Graphics Controller
  • Common Port Replicator, Advanced Port Replicator, and External MultiBay Options
  • Two USB 2.0 ports
  • S-video TV out
  • 40-GB and 60 GB 5400 RPM hard drives
Hope that helps.

Hi, is it an IDE or SATA hard drive? If you know how to remove it check and see which it is, then you can go to any online computer store to by a replacement. or if you have a Retail store close, take it to them to see if they have what you need.

Iomega 1TB Desktop USB 2.0 Hard Drive. turned it on it keeps clicking but is not recognised by my laptop.

If it's clicking then more than likely the heads have crashed. It's very expensive to fix...usually 1,500-2,700.

Hopefully you didn't have anything SUPER important on the drive. I usually recover them for 700 but I'm independent so that's why my prices are much lower.

You should still be able to return the drive to Iomega for a replacement (RMA).

instructions on how to remove and replace the hard drive are on this PDF document.

You will need a pdf reader to open the document, if you are unable to open it download a pdf reader here

Can you remove the hard drive from the computer, write down the details that read on top of it, and also if you could look at the connectors and tell me the details so I can make sure I direct you at a proper replacement.

Thank you,

Laptop wont start. Told hard drive has crashed.

Sounds like you need to replace your hard drive. First you need to figure out what laptop model you have, then look up the specifications on the manufacturer's website to see if you have an "IDE" hard drive, or a "SATA" hard drive. Purchase a replacement hard drive, and install it into the computer. Then reinstall windows xp and you're good to go again.
