Question about Gateway GT5412 (232587) PC Desktop

1 Answer

I have a Gateway GT5412 PC Desktop with Windows Vista Prem Home Edition. I have had numerous issues since purchase with the monitor and a VGA neumonic appearing in the middle of the display. Gateway sent a new monitor and when it kept occurring, a complete factory restore was completed. The video drivers are not updateable due to the type of installation. It is an Intel(R)82945G Express ChipsetFamily adapter, driver version I was told my both Gateway and HSN (where I purchased product) that this particular driver is not upgradeable, even though the error messages come up that it needs to be updated. To resolve this issue, I would like to be able to install a new video card that will work with this model. The "VGA" box that appears in the middle of the display stays on now longer and longer each time the computer is accessed. Any suggestions?

Instead of trying to upgrade, try uninstalling the driver completely and installing the driver directly from Intel.

Here is the link for the 64 bit version:
Download Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista 64 exe
Here is the link for the 32 bit version:
Download Intel Graphics Media Accelerator Driver for Windows Vista 32 exe

These are for version

SOURCE: Monitor goes into power saver mode

Take your Agp card with you to the shop. You do not need to go through Gateway, but there are serveal formats of AGP regarding the voltages.

By the sounds of it you have the newer version of AGP so finding a replacement card won't be a problem. The only real issue you have is AGP cards cost a lot more then their PCI-e conterparts.

Going from a GeForce 4, look for something like an FX5700 or even a 6200. Don't let the sales guys get in your ear either. Putting any higher video card then these in your current system and your wasting your money.

SOURCE: due to some microsoft updates

if you have zone alarm on your computer, the problem is that there is a conflict with the new microsoft update and zone alarm

click on start, control panel, internet options, and then the security tab

drop the security settings down to low and see if you can go online. If you can, it is definately the new microsoft update conflict.

Go to after you get online and click on the yellow section on the right down towards the bottom middle-ish. Zone alarm is aware of the problem and has come out with a patch to fix it. Just click on the link provided and reload the product you purchased and wahla, you back in business my freind.

I hook up my computer and monitor all correctly but i get no video

lets first check weather the vga cable is properly attached to the port.if ok, and still no video the fastest way is to hooked up your pc to the other monitor just to ensure if monitor issue. by the way does your pc has power indicator how about the fan in the power supply does it work?,you have to considered those things to isolate where the main cause came from.

I cannot install ethernet driver of hp compaq d530. Where can i find it?

Hello: I hope the following information is helpful.
If you are trying to install the driver for the Broadcom ethernet NIC that was pre-installed (NOT an ethernet card that you purchased and installed yourself), there is a softpack (updated driver installation) download available from HP/Compaq. It will install the driver automatically for you, just download it from the link below and run the ".exe" file.
IMPORTANT: Check to be sure that your current Operating System, and model of the network device you are trying to install, are BOTH listed below BEFORE you download!

Have a laptop with Windows XP home edition. It is hooked up to a brand new LCD through a RGB cord and audio wire, the LCD won't recognize it and the Gateway can't input the LCP to act as a second monitor...

I would test that lcd in another computer and or laptop or Television that has the same RGB / VGA wire connection and then you can see if from there if its the LCD thats bad or maybe your graphics card that might be bad on your computer. When you say the gateway cant input as a second monitor to play dvd's this could be an issue with the drivers if you have more than 1 graphics card on your desktop I need more information from you to further help you with this issue. Hope my answer gets you closer to a solution. Please Help rate me if I helped you out or not I am new but a very good tech.
