Those are hard disk related errors..and probably will need a hard disk format action ...If you do not store any files on it is better cause the action will wipe out the hdd..
if after formatting it it will still make the same it is a physical issue and you will need to have it sent to be checked by professionals.

to format you have to choose the storage feature in the menu ...actually to get to the hdd and in the options to choose format ..But remember that this action will erase all the stored data on it ..and you will loose the data ..so up back up will be a smart move before proceed to it..

The problem exist because of the latest umusic software update disk. Since the release in January, some of these disks were corrupt. As a result, you get the error message 801 or 802 call bose. if you explain to the bose technical reps that the problem occurred right after you loaded the latest software release, they may consider swapping out the media center for free.

I think we're discussing the Personal Music Center II.

I had to back into the product from the remote model number. Can we assume you also have one of the compatible LS systems (18 or 28 Series II or the 38 or 48) ?

You can go to Bose.com and search for it or register and download the manual for free at retrevo.com

http://www.retrevo.com/support/Bose-Personal-Music-Center-II-Universal-Remotes-manual/id/526dj583/t/2/

The first item in Troubleshooting (page 28) might explain what's happening.

FAILED 802 CALL BOSSE

I have the same problem since the Earthquake in Christchurch NZ.. Called Bose support centre and it seems the hard drive has failed and will need replacing, so all stored music etc lost. Cost to fix is roughly the same as getting a new media centre (DVD/CD) component. We are getting a new one through our insurance, apparently Bose Lifestyle's do not like being shaken around a lot or dropped.
Normally accompanied by a screetching sort of sound when you try to access stored music or turn the unit off.

Bose lifestyle fault code 802 hi there- i have a bose lifestyle 48 and on display it reads format unsupported when i try to listen to cd's gut not on dvd's - in addition i am unable to store music into the...

Unfortunately, an 802 error is bad. That means hard drive (HDD) failure. This can happen to any hard disc drive, and there's no way to predict it and no way to fix it from home.
If you even try to troubleshoot it (reset etc), you could loose more data (music you've already stored to the system). If you try to access 'stored' music- the error will continue. Also, every time you turn the system off, it checks your HDD, and will probably cause the 802 or 801 errors to display again.
The "Format Unsupported" message may be related, but usually temporary. The 802 (and also 801) errors mean irreversible HDD damage so it doesn't matter.
Call Bose tech support immediately.. They can repair it for $165 and give a new 1 year warranty. And if it's already under warranty they will repair for free. In either case they will replace your HDD with a new one, and transfer any salvaged music files from your existing drive to the new drive.

Bose Lifestyle 48 not responding to remote or manual functions

I hd this same problem a couple of months ago. Disconttect all peripherals (any exterior amps, roommates) plug the power connector and wait for two minutes, while waiting connect the main system. try turning the LS 48 on. If this clears thing turn off the LS 48 and connect the peripheral one at a time testing with each new connection. Happy hunting.

Bose Lifestyle 48 Error code 801

We had this problem. I called Bose, and they reported that the 801 error is a hard drive problem. The unit started squealing while I was on the phone to support, and the guy heard it. Said the hard drive was failing.

$200 to ship the unit to Bose to replace the drive. Wish they had a secret warantee for what seems like a common problem.
