Question about Reddy Heating & Cooling

2 Answers

I have a Infra-red heater CHD12B and shortly after startup, the burner starts popping and cutting in and out (relights due to heat of burner) and the back cone where burner is located and stem going to to regulator gets red hot. This is not how it operated for the first several years I've owned it. What can be the cause?

Check the mesh for holes, this just started happening to mine and I found 2 holes. With DESA Industries being out of business, and due to it being identical to Mr Heater etc, I'll just find some mesh and repair it, its held on with 4 rivets.

I have an Optimus H-5210 Infra-Red Heater and it's working great but last night while i slept, the pillow felt on top of it, burned a hole and i couldn't get the heater to turn back on. Is there a reset...

god please be carfull thousands of home fires start like this!!!!!!!
My guess is that a high temp cutout has opened. most likly it is not replacable.
Google search your model number / owners manual to see if there is resettable overtemp.
I was unable to locate but you may have more luck.

Remember infra-red heat warms items and objects in the room by absorbtion of infra-red waves this heater should not be near any flameable items! its designed to sit like 6 feet away from any thing and items in the room absorb heat energy then give it up to there surrounings.
please be carefull....

I have a model VN3000D Infra-Red heater and it WOULD burn on the #1 setting but now won't stay lit at all. The pilot is a blue flame with small yellow tip and is on natural gas. Is this a thermocouple...

Any time you see yellow tip on pilot it a sign that pilot needs cleaned. Use air to clean it then relight, look to see that the tip of thermcouple is in the pilot flame. your pilot light would out as soon as you release the pilot starter button if it was thermcouple. You can go on line and find all like of heater parts. My shop has nine instock.

You should take the heater apart and blow it out. Wore brush the burner. and blow out the pilot assembly. Vacuum the bricks. Put it all back together. It just needs a little tlc.

My ignitor wont work can i use a match to light it

Yes you can. You have to remember to follow the pilot lighting procedure and hold the button down long enough for the thermocouple to heat up (usually only about 30 seconds or less). Then the heater should allow you to light the burners.
