Question about Brother IntelliFAX 4100 Laser Fax

Brother business class laserfax 4100 getting inconsistent send errors such as line NG, not every time, but often enough. Over a period of months now, seems to be more frequent.

Intellifax 4100e ..not receieve fax


Look at the front door that you open when you change the toner/drum. You will see that it has not closed properly at one end. Give it a gentle whack and the error should go. Very common problem as the catches can be stiff.

Brother Inellifax 4100e will not send


It appears that you have interference somewhere in the office. Have you recently gone to DSL in the office? A DSL line transmits a signal that requires a filter to receive only phone signals instead of the DSL signal. If the fax machines are receiving an unfiltered DSL signal, this would explain the interference. If this is not the case, the link below is a Brother's Solution to the NG Poor line quality. Cannot receive faxes or copy, but can send out


make sure you auto recieve light is on.
check your lights the one for FAX only has to be on only.
not TEL or FAX_TAD

First plug in a normal tone tellefone into the wall jack that your fax is using.Make sure you get the fax signal from the faxnumbers you struggling with.If you can hear any line noises on the line it may be the problem why you cant get a fax trough.Make sure your fax is set on the correct county code-tone or pulse.

Have you called your own fax line and just listened to the fax hand shake? might sound simple but I have called fax lines before and it just rang, or it was busy or static, if your not getting a clear fax hand shake, then it is the phone line, if there is no answer you may have turned your fax to manual receive mode, If you don't know how it should sound call a friends business fax line and listen to it. I have actually gone out to businesses that reported send or receive problems just to call the line and listen to a disconnect message, that would make it difficult to fax.

NG STANDS FOR NOT GONE , TYPICALLY THIS MEANS THAT THERE IS A COOMMUNICTION ERROR AND THERE IS ALINE DISTURBANCE /NOISE DURING THE CONNECTION WHILE SENDING THE FAX MESSAGE. TRY CHANGING THE TELEPHONE LINE IF IT IS AVAILABLE. HAPPY FAXING OMNIPRESENT
