Question about Audio Players & Recorders

1 Answer

Hello, My Pioneer PD-Z560T Twin Tray CD unit will play discs, but usually plays Track One for around 30 seconds, them skips back to around the 15 second mark. It then carries on playing up to around the 30 second mark again, then skips back to 15 again. This is pretty consistant with different discs!!! It may be up to 40 seconds, then back to 25, but you get the idea i hope. If i skip to track 4 (for example), it may start playing, but will usually then skip back to track ONE, going through the same skip-play-skip-play routine as described above. I have gently cleaned the lens with pure alcohol, but it makes very little difference. It cannot be damaged discs, as it does it will loads of proven OK ones, but hte skip-play skip times vary slightly from disc to disc I do notice that "Edit Mode" is permanently lit in the led panel, cannot get rid of it. is this normal?? (i have no instructions, but do have a remote control). Thanks in advance, Andy Can vyou pls advise

    Hi there,

Thanks for the reply about skipping discs on the pioneer pd-z560t

If you or anyone can add any more info or help, i will add that it was playing fine up to a few years ago when machine was safely stored until yesterday. it was then delivered to me via a 100 mile car journey.

Could the trip or the lack of use for a few years affect the lens, or could you now suggest something else vplease?.

    continued thanks in advance.

    Andy

Hello,

how long have you been using this player? Was this player playing Cd without skipping previously?

This problem is more or less like a lens problem. When the lens of a player becomes weak, it begins to skip discs. Though it might not skip all discs but that doesn't mean its not a lens problem. Also, cleaning the lens with an alcohol cannot revive a weak lens. It only solves the problem of a dirty lens.

I think your player needs a brand new lens for it to play CD's without skipping them.

To replace the lens, remove the bad laser, use it as a sample to get exactly the same type and do the replacement. Note that replacing a laser (lens) needs a professional touch, so if you cannot replace the laser, get it to a repairman to fix it for you.

Once this us done, your player will play all discs again.

Good luck.

    Hello,

not using the lens for a long time may affect it because a lot of dust and other particle may have affected the lens.

Since the player hasn't been used for a long time, you can service it by disassembling the player, use a paint brush and alcohol to clean the board. Make the internal part of the player clean and dust/curb web free.

You might end up replacing the lens as I stated in m first post.

    Take care.

To my surprise, CD cleaner disc did it for me. It's a very old Philips one with a bit of furry stuff on the track side. I was amazed it even played, but it did and after letting it run for 20 secs, tried proper discs and it works fine. And this Pioneer PD-M603 is at least 15 years old!Looks like it would be hard to clean the lens manually because it's a long way inside.

Turned on my Pioneer PD M501 one day and it would not play. Disc tray will not retract into cartridge and cartridge will not eject.

Sometimes the little ball bearings that keep the cart trays separated come out causing tray jams.
Make sure your tray retracts all the way into the player flush with the face plate, gently push it in while retracting for those occasional no-read situations. (Also for Denon that takes these same carts). Also note that the CDs go in the Upside Down position.

Have a pioneer cd player model number PD-Z560T. Has started making my cd's jump while i'm playing them.Have tryed cd lens laser cleaning disc but still no good any ideas?

Hi,

My cd unit on the pioneer pd-z560t also jumps. I also tried lens cleaner, with no luck.

It was suggested to me that cleaner is only any good for a good - but dirty - lens, but no good if the lens has actually deteriorated and become weak.

I would be curious to know how a lens could actually deteriorate pls.

plese try to reply to: clerical@live.co.uk

Thanks
Andy
