I did a little research and it was orginaly designed for the 775 Pentium 4 processors. I couldnt find any information on Core 2 duo support or any other 775 soccet support. Personly I would pop one in and try it but i have a number of spare parts laying around not everyone has.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help

Dustin

Can i put dual core processors in my intel se7505vb2 motherboard?

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/se7505vb2/sb/cs-007399.htm

Page 16 of the Technical Product Specification guide;

3.1.1 Processor Support
"The Intel Server Board SE7505VB2 supports one or two processors in the 604-pin FCPGA package."

-> Socket 604,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Socket_604

-> Intel XEON processors ONLY

"When two processors are installed, all Processors MUST be of identical revision, core voltage, and bus/core speed."

-> Means you really should use two IDENTICAL processors.

"When only one Processor is installed, it should be in the socket labeled CPU1, and the other socket must be empty."

-> Self-explanatory.
That's the processor socket furthest away from the black AGP graphics expansion slot, and closest to the outside edge of the motherboard.
(Page 104, and 105)

ONLY supports Intel Xeon processors with a 400MHz, or 533MHz FSB.

Dual-Core Xeon's start at 667MHz, and wouldn't work anyway; due to different Core architecture, and Instruction Sets.

667MHz, 800MHz, 1066MHz, and 1333MHz, for dual core Xeon's,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Xeon_microprocessors#Xeon_.28UP.2FDP.29.2C_Dual_Core_2

(Scroll down just a touch, to get the Wikipedia 'banner' out of the way, or click on it's X)

Scroll down the page, look at the charts. Starts with 800MHz FSB for Dual Core, then goes 667MHz, 800MHz, 1066MHz, and 1333MHz, Front Side Bus.

Use Dual Core processors?

No.

Two Single-Core processors.

The above is a direct link to the PDF file, motherboard manual.
If it doesn't work just by clicking on it, then copy it; and paste it in your browser address bar. Press the Enter key.

(This is a PDF file. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
After you click on the above link, or press the Enter key; it may take up to 30 seconds before the first page comes up.

Didn't want you to wait a few seconds, and think nothing is happening)

Can I upgrade to a Intel Pentium D 945 3.40ghz processor. Intel (Augsburg) 915G Motherboard

No, the Intel (Ausberg) 915G motherboard will not support dual core processors.

The Intel (Ausberg) 915G motherboard uses an Intel 915G motherboard chipset,

http://support.gateway.com/s/MOTHERBD/Intel2/102007/102007sp33.shtml

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_intel_chipsets#Pentium_4.2FPentium_D.2FPentium_EE_Chipsets

Supports only Single Core processors.

It isn't until the Intel 945G motherboard chipset, that Dual Core processors are supported.

[NOTE*
The Intel Celeron D is a Single Core processor.
The Intel Pentium D is a Dual Core processor,

Intel Celeron D,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Celeron_D#Celeron_D

"The Intel Celeron D processor works with the Intel 845 and 865 chipset families. The D suffix actually has no official designation, and does not indicate that these models are dual-core. It is used simply to distinguish this line of Celeron from the previous, lower performing Northwood and Willamette series, and also from the mobile series, the Celeron M (which also uses 3xx model numbers). Unlike the Pentium D, the Celeron D is not a dual core processor."

Intel Pentium D,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Pentium_D

Don't 'shoot the messenger'. I just state the facts.

Upgrade from single core processor to duo core

You cannot upgrade to a dual core processor using this motherboard as this motherboard is a socket 478 (older version) instead of LGA775. If you want to upgrade to a dual core processor, you will have to get a new Mobo as well.
