Question about Dell E153FPf 15" TFT LCD Flat Panel Monitor

1 Answer

Dell LCD Monitor will only work in safe mode - otherwise I get the error message Can't Display this Video Mode. I have reset to factory settings and also tried manually setting it to 1280x1024. When I'm not in safe mode I just get a black screen with the error message. I tried disconnecting and reconnecting with no change.

Monitor works in safe mode only

Monitor has no idea what mode the computer is in. Safe mode uses the default lowest common denominator video settings. I think I would try reinstalling the display adapter drivers.

Installed Dell 1905fp monitor -- message showing "analog input - cannot display this video mode"

The native resolution of this monitor is 1280x1,024 2 60Hz, your PC video card resolution is set too high for it to display. Bootup in safe mode (hit F8 while booting up), then select VGA support, set the resolution to 1280x1,024 2 60Hz, then reboot.

DELL E153FPf doesn't show the image

OSD Warning Messages A warning message may appear on the screen indicating that the monitor is out of sync range.
Cannot Display This Video Mode
This means that the monitor cannot synchronize with the signal that it is receiving from the computer. Either the signal is too high or too low for the monitor to use. See Specifications for the Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this monitor. Recommended mode is 1024x768 @ 60Hz.
Occasionally, no warning message appears, but the screen is blank. This could also indicate that the monitor is not synchronizing with the computer or the monitor is in a power save mode.

My dell flat screen monitor automatically enters power save mode, I can't get out of it so the screen is just black

Do the following troubleshooting steps:
  • Increase 'Brightness' & 'Contrast' controls
  • Perform monitor self-test feature check
  • Check for bent or broken pins on the D-sub cable.
In case the above does not work, do this:
- Do a factory reset on All Settings. http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/monitors/E173FP/En/controls.htm

If the above does not resolve the problem, change the video settings on the Operating system or on the graphics configuration settings. If your system is running on Windows, boot it to safe mode first.

Dell E153FP monitor won't display any video from system (Dell GX260). My e173FP monitor works fine. E153FP powers up, runs Self Test Feature Test fine, menus all seem OK. Tried Factory Reset... still no...

You probably have tried this, but make sure monitor is set to correct display... i.e., Analog or Digital

Also, try starting in safe mode and verify Monitor is able to handle the display settings resolution

GX520 screen display message: cannot display this video mode

This means that the windows setting you have set can not display on your current monitor. There are two ways to fix this, one is to boot the computer in safe mode by pressing f8 after the POST screen and change the resolution and the other is to plug the computer into a different monitor to see if supports that resolution and then change the resolution in windows to a lower setting.

In case you don't know how to change the resolution in windows, follow below.

Right click on the desktop
Properties
Settings at the top
Move the slider to 1024x768
Click ok

Try rebooting. If that still doesn't work, try another resolution.

Error: Cannot Display This Video Mode

You may have to boot into safe mode and reset the video settings to a safe setting like 1024x768.

  1. To get into safe mode, continuously press F8 while the computer is booting up.
  2. Eventually you will get a Windows XP Boot Menu.
  3. Choose the option for Safe Mode.
  4. Go to Start, Control Panel and double-click Display.
  5. On the Settings tab, drag the slider bar to 1024x768.
  6. Click OK
  7. Shut down and reboot.
If the problem goes away, then you are good. Otherwise, you'll have to boot menu again (F8) and choose Enable VGA Mode.
