Question about Brother MFC-5890CN All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I have a Brother MFC-5890n ( a3 printer) and i have had it for two days I bought it as i immediately needed to print out coursework for university in A3. The problem I get is that on certain pages of my PowerPoint presentation is prints half or sometimes even less then that of the page content. I initially thought it maybe was the paper tray or the actual information I was sending to the printer but it is very erratically. it randomly prints out one or two pages and then will print out a couple of half pages I really do not understand what could be the issue ?

Are you sure your model number is not MFC-5890CN?

Check to see if you are trying print with "Page Layout: 2 in 1" and the quality is set to Super Fine or Fine. Try changing the quality setting to Normal or Fast and try again.

If you are using the 2 in 1 feature and some of the borders around the document are not printed or lines are printed that shouldn't be there; the issue can be resolved by adjusting the print margins of the document from the page setup area of PowerPoint.

There have been recent updates to printer drivers for the MFC-5890CN. Please see here to download updated drivers ad software. You may also find the FAQ's & Troubleshooting section to be of assitance.

Trust this is helpful.

The Brother printers have a counter which will shut the printer down when the preset number of copies has been reached. You can reset the counter and it should print again. I did this 4 months ago. It bought me a little time, but my printer has begun to print a solid line down the left side of each page. I have cleaned everything that I can access to rule out smudged glass, etc. Perhaps it is just best to replace the drum or buy a new printer(much to Brother's delight and design).

I have not been using the Brother MFC 465CN printer for a while. Bought and installed new cartridges, cleaned the print head several times (from the printer menu option). But, nothing is getting printed....

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

How do you scan an A3 image into your computer at the same size? Mine automatically goes in as A4 and can not see any way to change it

Hi talk2mcclymo.

Try the manual or this link http://welcome.solutions.brother.com/BSC/public/files/dlf/doc002706/cv_mfc5895w_ukeng_usr_lx7196004.pdf

From Chapter 11 (page 88).

I think because A4 ist a default size, maybe you most set the printer to print or copie in A3 every time. Normally it most work every time, but try it out.

How, where do you load 11x17 paper for brothers mfc-5890n

It goes in your main paper tray. There's a button in the front of the tray to release a catch so you can extend the tray to 17 inches. See page 9 of your manual. If you don't have the book, download it free from www.brother-usa.com.

The scanner can only handle originals up to 8.5 inches wide. Only the printer can handle the big stuff.

Brother mfc MFC-5440CN magenta issues

If you have used generic ink the head is clogged and cant be cleaned anymore.

Last chance is to use original brother ink which has cleaning fluids within the ink. Run the cleaning procedure twice and simply print 10 PAGES afterwards. Wait A DAY AND TRY TO PRINT IN MAG AGAIN:

If there will be no mag. the ph is definitley clogged and needs replacement.
