Thru the wall AC units(small)

It's unclear to me whether thru the wall/window units will do both. I cannot put a unit in my windows, it won't work. This is a small bedroom 10X10

If it's the terminology you're unsure of, then the answer is yes the unit can be mounted through a wall or through a window. But you would have to have a suitable opening through the wall to mount it in. I'm not sure why it won't work in your window, but it might be easier to change the window than to create another opening in the wall. Or, as millionaires pointed out, you could put a portable unit that just sits on the floor, with big flexible air ducts to the window.

If the Ac unit can not fit your window, you can put a wall unit, you don’t have to open the wall and mount a stable unit, you just need to buy a portable AC unit put on.

This way cost you not too much.

There is what appears to be "steam" blowing from my airconditioner into my room. What should I do?

Due to high humidity and perhaps, an air intake filter that needs to be removed and cleaned. That "steam" is actually a misty fog and is harmless. Window & Thru the Wall AC units often do this when the outside humidity and temperatures are high. Keeping the air intake filter clean will help to lessen this mist.

Hope this helped to allay your concern. Thanks fo choosing FixYa.

I have a thru-wall unit that is draining out of the back and cooling just fine. My problem is the hole in which the ac goes thru. There seems to be some condensation on the bottom of the unit that drips...

you are correct the gap needs to be closed, i would suggest the double taped insulation they use on pick up truck when you put a topper on, as if you ever need to remove unit it would be easier then the expansion foam. Hope this helps Tim

Window air conditioner

Hi, yes you can put a window unit through a wall. Just make sure that the condensation will drain from the indoor coil to the out side which it should do on its own design. Also, make sure that the condenser coil at the rear of the unit is all out side. You will have no problems at all. You can use 2- peices of small chain at each corner and use small lag bolts to secure it to the wall. Looks better then to build a frame to set it on for support. Yes, they are made to install in either place.
Best of Luck,

AF-S80MX Thru-Wall/Window Air Conditioner: What kind of refrigerant does this unit uses? ...

Most new window units are using R-22 or it's most common alternative R-410A - but you will need to check the 'data tag' on the AC to be sure. All AC units have a data tag (either metal or paper label) - somewhere on the AC - which gives you model number, size, voltage, and type of Refrigerant, as well as other info.

good luck!

Frigidare thru-wall AC drips water when unit is on.

Do not try to drill any holes but search for the built in drain and open it. Again do not use a drill. Get a shop vac.
