Question about Frigidaire FER641FS Electric Dryer

I just replaced my heating coil and it burned out again? What could be causing this? i was told it could be the temperature sensor. The appliance place i called, the guy told me to call him after he's had his coffee. i just wanted some help. Thanks.

Yes you are right. If the temperature sensor is busted then there will be nothing to control the heating coil from burning up. The temperature sensor function was to regulate the heat that is circulating inside the electric dryer, without it then it is a disaster for the machine, its internal parts and the clothes you were putting in it. You are lucky the clothes didn't burn out too.

Defect Induction module
- Disconnect the appliance from the mains for 30 sec. If alarm still occurs after 1 min operation exchange induction module.

Over temperature of coil sensor with Falcon User interface with production date before 2010
- temperature sensor defect or wrong mounted.
  1. Check connector at induction module.
  2. Check the coil sensor, it should be placed even in the silicon carrier.
  3. Appliances with 3 zones, is the "Dummy" temperature sensor at the 2nd terminal mounted?
  4. Exchange coil with sensor.
  5. If above is without success, exchange induction module.

Dryer heats to proper drying temperature and then temperature is not maintained and drops off causing long drying time when on timed drying...GE Medallion 850 - bottom heat sensor was cleaned.


you didn't mention if dryer was gas or electric. gas dryer could have bad valve coils which will work for a short time and then fail, cool off and then work again and fail, causing intermittant heat.

Heating is not hot


Either the wires to the heating element have burned out, the heating element is shot, or the temperature sensor is shot. Unplug the dryer and check the heating element for continuity, check for burned wires between the relay and the coils, and check for continuity across the cold temperature sensor. Replace any defective parts.

Hello. If your stove is manufactured by Omega Appliances, it appears that they no longer produce it. That said I can speak to your heating element issue. When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out. You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results. If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component. When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly. If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective. Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details. Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat. If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem.

Dryer heats once or twice then stops heating


It's likely one of the coils is opening a break in the coil as the coil heats up. This coil will shrink when cool and be able to run again. The number for the coil kit, which will replace ALL the coils, for your machine is 12001348.

Disconnect power and turn off gas before working on this dryer. Working on gas dryers is not recommended for people who are not professionals.

Service on gas appliances should be undertaken by professionals only due to the danger of gas leakage which can cause fires or death by asphyxiation.

The disassembly procedure is covered beginning on page 3-10 of the manual listed at the link below. Operation and replacement of coils is covered at page 3-32. Replace All coils with Kit Number listed above. Take care not to touch or hit the ignitor or you will be replacing it also. It is VERY brittle.


Reverse process to re-assemble. Good Luck

Check to be sure the clock buttons and knobs are set properly. If your clock has a knob that says "push for man(ual)", push the knob in and try the baking and broiling elements again. If it still does not operate properly, you probably have a defect in the thermostat, selector switch, or common wiring.

If the oven does not have a separate bake/broil/etc. selector switch, the problem may be with the thermostat. But it's not easy to check the selector switch or thermostat for proper operation. If you suspect a problem in this area, call a qualified appliance repair technician.

It won't broil Usually, when an oven won't broil, it's because the broiler element is burned out. The broiler element in an electric oven is the black, pencil-thick tube at the top of the oven. When the broiler is on, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

This could be due to the spark plugs being fouled out. Try removing them and check to see if they are wet or dirty. If so try and clean them or replace them. See if this helps. If it does not it could also be the temperature sensor that the ECM uses to callibrate the mixture according to the temperature. Good luck.

Defy Tumble dryer not heating


Is this an electric dryer? If so, the most common problem would be a burned-out heating element. There could also be a defective temperature sensor inside. This will need to be evaluated by a qualified appliance repair technician to find the exact cause.
