Question about Epson Stylus C62 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I get the pop-up window that states maintenance is required. I've removed the printer housing, cleaned the ink pads and the surrounding area and I still get blinking green and red lights and no printer action. Does a counter need to be reset and how can I do that?

How do I reset the sensor after a waste pad error message for an Epson 7000? The pad is not full and I need to reset so I can print.

Hi

Normally your remedy is to replace the "Waste Ink Pad/Pads" with a new one/ones and then reset the "Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter". The waste ink pads are normally housed in a black plastic box. They are located in the bottom of the printer, towards the front, just under where the paper starts to exit. You would have to remove the "Top Cover Assembly" to be able to get to the screw or screws that hold that assembly in place. If you cannot figure out how to remove the waste ink pad holder assembly [plastic box], you may need a service manual, for the removal procedure.

Also Replace the following parts and reset the counters as described below:
- Waste Ink Pads
- F Box
- Pump Assembly
- Cap Assembly
- Cleaner, Head
- From Maintenance Mode 2 enter the Counter Init. Menu and initialize the Waste Ink counter and Cleaning counter.

Also check the end article at this given link for the resolution of the problem:-

Waste ink absorber is full, so the copier will not print.

Hi

For clean the your ink absorber please follow the mention below steps.

  1. Open your printer.

  2. To protect hands from Ink wear thin latex (or similar) gloves.
  3. Locate the Waste Ink Pads on the inside of your printer. They are on the right hand side and are quite small.
  4. You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull.
  5. Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area.
  6. There is one more waste holder in the right back bottom of the printer. A kind of sponge. There are few screws and plastic parts to be removed and this sponge needs to be washed, dried and placed again. Be careful and patient. This is no understatement. On the iP1500 this requires the dismantling of most of the printer. Take a photograph (even with your cell phone) so you can trace back your steps. On the iP1500 the drive motor on the side (Just behind the waste ink pads) has to be removed to get to the main sponge. You also need to take care as you lift the slide/carriage. Below this you find 5 little springs.
  7. Carefully replace the holder and the pads. Close printer.
  8. Whilst printer is disconnected from the mains power, press and hold the power button and reconnect to ac power.
  9. Release the power button.
  10. Press the power button again.

Ink absorber is almost full. What do we do next ?

You have not mentioned which brand/model is your printer. I take it as Canon. You have two options:
1 If the ink absorber is full you have to replace it. Getting it serviced is not a good option as it costs the same. It is normal wear and tear and not a defect.
2 If you know how to open the printer, you can do it yourself. Then open it and locate the waste ink pads which are on the right hand side. They are small in size. Not difficult to locate. You can remove the pads and the holder with a gentle pull. Using a tissue, soak up as much ink as possible and clean the area around the waste ink area.

Epson RX600 service required. How can i reset the printer and get rid of the error message?

I just had this same error message pop up on my RX600 yesterday. There is a utility that you can d/l from the Epson website to reset the counter at the link below.

http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp

The reason the service message pops up is that it is telling you that the waste ink pads are near the end of their service life and probably saturated with ink. You should still clean the waste ink pads or ink will eventually run out the bottom of your printer and create a big mess. If you do a Google search for something like "rx600 waste ink pads" there are some how-to discussions on doing this yourself. I'm going to clean mine later today.

They say it's not hard to do and you don't have to disassemble your printer, just use a toothpick or modified paperclip to remove the pads after you park the cartridges in their "replace ink cartridge" position and unplug the printer. A more detailed procedure can be found with the Google search.

Spillbläck full? What to do

It means that the pad that absorbs the ink when the heads are cleaned is full and if you use it more it will spill the ink over your desk. The official way to deal with that is to take the printer to a dealer and they will clean the absorbing pad and reset the warning.
You can do both yourself:
1 - to clean the ink pad: remove the cartridges and unplug the combo - the carousel should remain in the middle, leaving the pad in the right side visible; take the printer to your sink and pour water over it thru a pipe (try not to splash it everywhere) until the pad becomes white and the water that flows out colourless; allow it to dry thoroughly (at least 2 days in a hot environment).
2 - Reset the Waste Ink Volume Counter
1) Press Menu + Copy + # to enter SERVICE MODE.
2) Select TEST MODE.
3) Select 8 - PRINTER TEST in TEST MODE.
4) Select 3 - EEPROM CLEAR.
5) Select 0 - INK COUNT.
6) Press the OK key.
7) Press the Stop/Reset key (returning to the state of 3) and then press the ON/OFF key.

Parts inside your printer are at the end of their service life. what can I do

The likely cause is that the waste ink absorber pad is full.

Remove the pad (dis-assembly required) and rinse the waste ink out till the pad is very light grey. This takes a lot of rinsing and squeezing. Finding a replacement pad is often more work though. After cleaning, let dry thouroughly.

Then re-assemble and find the service/maintenance software to run to reset the waste ink counter in the printer.

Parts inside your printer require maintenance or replacement. Contact your dealer...... epson stylus c40ux both lights are flashing ... won't print

A service error where you get a message telling you that "Parts inside your printer at the end of their service life, contact your dealer for replacement", or "Parts inside your printer require maintenance or replacement, call your service company", is normally a Maintenance Request Error. The maintenance request error is actually a Waste Ink Ink Pad Error and usually your remedy is to replace the waste ink pad/pads with a new one/ones and then reset the Internal Waste Ink Pad Counter. If you just reset the counter and don't replace the pads, then your printers old pads will eventually overflow and normally start leaking ink out the bottom of your printer. You can see exploded parts diagrams for most epson ink jet printers and can also check on possible parts ordering, by Compass Micro Inc, at http://www.compassmicro.com/parts_select.cfm . Some people actually wash the ink out of the old pads, by holding them under running cold water. Then they simply dry them out and reinstall them back into their printer. The choice on what to actually do, is yours to make. I would at least recommend getting that waste ink counter reset procedure and performing it first, to make sure your printer will then work. There is an "Epson Stylus C60 Printer Information Page", that also includes the C40 & C42 series, that you can view at http://epsonhelp.freehttp.com/C60.html . It does have a section on the left side you can click-on, titled WASTE INK PAD SERVICING and also a section titled HOUSING REMOVAL, that will be of some help to you, if you want to try the needed servicing. However, you will still need to actually reset that Internal Waste Ink Counter, to clear the actual service error condition. You may be able to reset that waste ink counter, using the SSC SERVICE UTILITY available at http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/sscserve.exe . Unfortunatly, that utility only works using a windows operating system. You can check and see if your particular epson printer is compatible, by going to http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html ...Here's some previously posted info that may also help. To reset the error download this utility: http://inkjetprinterhelp.us/epsonSSC.html . Once installed run the program and configure it, closing the main window and right clicking the icon in the tray area, from there choose Configure and select your printers model. After configuration, select Protection counter -> Reset protection counter, it should be able to clear the error message. If that does not actually work, then the only suggestion I can give is to perform a soft-reset before resetting counter. Remove also the Epson status agent, it detects errors and it may hinder communication with the printer, then reboot your pc. As profile choose the one sscservice didn't use after autoconfiguration, check for printer response. Remember that you should also clean the waste ink pads located at the printer bottom. For a more in-depth procedure go to his site at http://myprinter.altervista.org/simplefaq/mysimplefaq.html#counter "....Unfortunately, that ssc service utility may not actually work on all epson printers and not on all operating systems, so you will have to check it out for yourself. Just in case that source does not work: You may then need to go on-line to try and locate the actual reset procedure, to buy and download to actually reset that waste ink counter

Epson 1280

The ink jet printers have ink absorbing pads to catch and accumulate ink used to clean the printheads. The counter on MB counts number of head cleanings and printer startups (at every start up the heads are cleaned) and at preset number of cleaning alerts the operator that "printer needs maintenance" and sets the red light. You probably need a change ink absorbing pads (or wash them and dry 'em up) and then make a reset the count using printer Service Utility (can be downloaded from the web). To get to the ink absorbing pads is not easy - you need to remove the printer case - I am not familiar with 1280, but I did that on Epson 3000 & 5000 printers. In many cases the pads are actually OK , but the MB reaches the count and flags the pads.

What you can try is this. UNPLUG THE MACHINE..
Remove the ink cartridges. Place some paper towels under the cartridge holder.
Take a soapy cleaner like fantastic, or formula 109 and dribble it into the area at the bottom of the print cartridge holder. You want to disolve that ink and flush it out of the pads in that area.
Just take your time, and keep rinsing until you see very little ink coming out.
Then clean up the surrounding area well. Wait a 2 or 3 hours before trying it again so that all the cleaners dry.
Normally that fixes this particular problem, The ink just coagulates in that area from non use.
