Question about Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 Netbook (IM1012799OBK)

2 Answers

Hi I spilt a very small amount of coffee on my Dell Inspiron 1012 Netbook! I dried it out for a while (put it upside down) and whilst it boots up OK, the keyboard no longer works and I cannot put my password in! Any advice would be appreciated

My dell inspiron mini 1012 got a virus and will not boot in any mode. It will only load up to the Windows screen and just stay there. How can I reset the factory settings?

you could try this but you will loose anything that you may have put onto the laptop your self
such as files or photo,s unless you have copied them onto a spare drive

press the power on key
then straight away press the CTRL+F11 keys and hold down for a few seconds
hopefully this will take you into the factory restore options
then follow the on screen instructions

hope this will help you
many thanks

My dell mini 1012 won't boot up, just beeps 8 times over and over again.

Trying unplugging the computer, remove the battery, open the memory door and remove the memory, clean the memory contacts with a clean dry soft cloth and then replace. Replace the battery, plug in the computer and try again. Sometimes residual power builds up ...

I waste juice on the keybord of my mini dell net booj

you should not have tried to boot it after spilling juice on it. If anything on it has not fried yet leave it for 3 days to get dry and then try to boot it up. If it's not booting then you can't fix it yourself you will have to give it to service repairs.

7 beep error message for dell inspiron mini 1018

For the Dell Inspiron Mini 1012 Netbook, 7 beeps indicates bad memory (system RAM). The memory will need to be replaced.
The RAM can be replaced using a small Phillips screwdriver and removing the back-plate on the bottom of the laptop. When you see the memory (sticks around 3 inches long), pull those out and put new ones in. Make sure it's the correct DDR2 memory.
Good luck!
