This might be an age issue or the keys under the keyboard is aged that it stops working or if say like someone spilled something on the keys damaging the board under the keys I recommend replacing the keys or use a USB pluged keyboard

How to troubleshoot keyboard issues?

<b>Summary:</b><br /> Keyboard issues are relatively easy to troubleshoot. 4,5,6 upper key, right key, left key, call button not working

This is almost always caused by a minor spill of some form.
If it's a desktop keyboard, hey, the amount of work involved in cleaning the thing out just isn't worth it.
get a new $5 or $10 keyboard from wal-mart.
If it's a really expensive keyboard, or your dead dad gave it to you and you just can't part with it, or if it's a laptop keyboard, reply to this post and I'll help you out.
Be forewarned though, you're in for a 1-3 hours work depending on what kind of keyboard it is. (if it's a laptop keyboard, give the make/model of the laptop).

How to work f keys on top of keyboard?

if your on a laptop.. see if you can notice a "function" key.
this will enable he f keys on your laptop keyboard.
If you are using a PC desktop and have either a MS keyboard or something similar, on the keyboard, you should see a "F" or "F-Lock" key. Press this and you F keys will have functionality on keyboard.
good luck ...

How to enable radio on a inspiron e1505 not using the FnF2 keys to activate it. my laptop keyboard it is not working, i am using another one... thx

Try rebooting your computer, get into the BIOS. Look around for external keyboard options. Some laptops, perhaps yours, can be set to reassign a key on an external keyboard as the function key on the internal keyboard.

Lenovo s1o number lock stuck. i am unable to use keyboard. FN key non responsive. any suggestions are appreciated!

Hello

If the key is physically stuck in the "down" or pressed postion, the key may have become disconnected from the mechanism underneath that returns it to the "up" position.

All keys on all keyboards can be removed. This includes laptops. On laptops, the keys typically have less travel (up and down) than a desktop keyboard and the key attaches to the keyboard differently.

In either case, use a small screwdriver or your fingernail and gently lift up on the key - to return it to the "up" position. When in that position, see if the rest of the keyboard works.

If it does, you can simply lift up on the key and remove it from the keyboard. The support that is underneath will either be removed with the key or will remain on the keyboard.

Re-attaching the key involves aligning the key with the ends of the support bracket and snapping it back into place. (Most keyboards have a white plastic structure that forms a X on 2 sides - allowing the key to move up and down.)

With the key removed, look at the edges of the surrounding keys to get an idea of how it attaches, align the parts and press it back into place.

I have dell inspiron 6000 laptop. The laptop keyboard got locked. I can't use the keyboard and if press any key..it works for the function key. On the laptop, the light with lock symbol (9) is on.

When you turn on the laptop, just before Windows starts to load tap the F8 key a couple of times. If you get a menu, choose Last Known Good.

If that does not do it, and the mouse still works fine, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools and run System Restore.

Choose a date from before the keyboard problem and let it reboot. Should solve the problem.

All keys in keyboard r no working

You can try but may be pure luck if it works: Cleaning the Keyboard with Vaccum Cleaner and blower. Also use a wet cloth and wet brush to clean it. Then dry it before use.

Power off PC and then Press all keys with both hands and then power on, have a try for Keyboard.

Otherwise it is the time to go for a new one, I would recommend to use a TVS gold keyboard having punching noise on it (similar to typewriter) than using a Multimedia keyboard (of soft keys press).

Since the former are repairable and the latter are not.

Thanks,
Fix it Out

HP DV 2000 keyboard not responding on all keys. Laptop is 2 years old. Tried all usual remedies including keyboard replacement. Works on a USB plug in keyboard. Any ideas please

If a section of keys isn't working at all, you'll likely need a new keyboard.  If the problem is with IOPUJKL:M keys you may have the Numlock on.
