Refrig door does not seal

First off, make sure nothing is stopping the door from closing completely. If the door is closing properly, then using a hair dryer, heat the gasket until soft and pliable. You can carefully stretch it towards the cabinet. There is a magnet in the gasket all the way around on the mating portion. While the gasket is soft, the magnet will pull the gasket until contact is made with the cabinet. Once a good seal has been accomplished, allow to door to remain closed for 30 minutes. The seal will cool down, and the new shape will be maintained. After that, close the door on a dollar bill. Gently tug the portion of the bill on the outside of the door from one corner to the other. There should be some resistance to your pulling. If the bill feels loose, apply more heat to the gasket in that area to improve the seal. DO NOT HOLD THE HAIR DRYER IN ONE PLACE TOO LONG AS IT WILL DAMAGE THE GASKET, AS WELL AS THE PLASTIC LINER.

Blower work fine but still dont get no heat or defrosters could use some help thank you

It sounds like your heater controls are not working. They are usually operated by a vacume line. check under dash passenger side behind glove box for the vacume line disconected ps check engine side first its easier. if vacume line is good chech vacum at heater box their is a meatel vacume unit that opens and closes the heat and defrost doors. if your heat is only comeing out of the defrosters The doors under the dash are not opening and closeing. ChecK the metal vacume unit . A vacume pump can be purshed at parts store some have a loner program.

The freezer is freezing but the refrigerator is not getting cold why?

check the damper door vent located between the refrige and freezer for being iced up and stuck shut,if cold air from freezer can't get past thid door the refrige will warm up,if this isnt the problem, adjust the refrige temp control and watch and see if this makes this door open and close as you adjust the temp of the refrige compartment

Our side by side freezer door opens slightly

That is a common occurrance for side by side refrigerators. Closing the fresh food door is like having your car windows closed and closing the door. You can feel the air pressure on your ears. In the refrigerator, the air passes through the duct and into the freezer pushing the door open. The magnet on the door gasket should keep it closed. But it may be the freezer door needs the hinges adjusted to the door seats better when closed. Take the plastic cover off the top hinge and you can loosen the screws (don't take them out) and adjust the door slightly (so it looks even between both doors) and tighten the screws up. The top of the door should be level with the top of the unit, and the gap between the doors even the whole way down.

if the jaws are closed, just pull the door handle all the way open, just like you were opening the door. You should hear a snap when the jaws open.

I have a whrilpool side by side refridgetator, when you close the doors and try to open them again quickly they are very hard to reopen. the model number is ED5VHEXTB01, i bought it at Lowes about 2 years...

This is a normal occurence and there is nothing that can be done to stop it from happening. what causes it is when that freezer reaches sub-freezing temps it creates a low pressure type condition that causes a vacum. this has always happend on all refrigs but older unit had so many air leaks that the pressure released very quickly and the doors werent hard to open. this vacum condition is a testament to the way the manufacturers have improved the seals and air tightness of newer units.
there are vacum breaks that can be installed on the refrig that can help a little but this also allows air to leak back into the unit and cause a loss of effciency. most times if you will wait 20-30 seconds that vacum will release and the doors will open normally.
Thanks Peyton

Refrigerator door not closing all the way

the pressure inside the box is pussing the other door open and what you need to do is tilt your refrig back until the door will close by itself and that will be as far as you need to go back with it ,,,, it's normal for it to happen and a frig should always have a little tilt / larryyb
