Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console
Dirty or Worn laser is a very common fault in all PS2's sometimes cleaning the laser will help or slight adjustment may be needed.
On several PS2's I've fixed the laser was fine, but the suspension rubbers had worn... you can test for this by putting a disc in, closing tray, turning the PS2 upside down then pressing the reset button... if the disc loads when the machine is upside down then you need new suspension rubbers.
A less common fault which can give the same fault of not reading discs is the spindle motor going bad.

You might of had one of the wires connected from the TV to the PS2 damaged and may need new ones or just make sure that the wires connecting each other from the TV to the PS2 are well connected. My little brother use to drop my PS2 a lot too and that happened to me once, but it turned out to only be that the wire got pulled too much when it fell and it disconnected from the TV to the PS2 and I had to only put it in well.
