Yes. The following site shows the filters and which is used for what. Due to potential motor damage, I wouldn't use it without the proper filter.

Put wet filter in dyson DC35 will not run will it dry out

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

The filters in our handheld machines should be washed at least once a month using cold water without detergent. However, they should always be allowed to try completely before they're replaced, which may take at least 12 hours. It can help to place the filter somewhere warm - for example, by a radiator, or in an airing cupboard.

Unfortunately, if you have used your machine with a wet filter in place, this is likely to have caused damage to the motor. Using your machine with a wet filter will also have voided the machine's 2-year guarantee.

I would encourage you to get in touch with us directly so we can confirm which replacement parts you may need to get the machine running again. You can reach our customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1-866-693-9766 (US).

Best wishes,

Jack

I have a 6 gall wet dry shop vac bye rigid . do i need a foam wet filter on the inside or will it work properly without the filter on i need it for water only. people in the store said the paper filter was...

Always use the foam filter when using the Shop Vac, keep your filters clean and it will operate more smoothly. When sucking water I usually take the foam filter off as well as the cylinder filter

I did not get a manual with my vac. I am trying to soak up water from a water tank leak and water seems to go right trough the vac and water is coming out the blower hole. the tub is not full.

There is a special sock that you need to buy for it. You can run the paper filter if your in a pinch but after that one time, that's it, that filter is ruined.
The paper filter is for dry vacuuming, the foam filter is for wet vacuuming, You have to have one or the other in place.
There are two ways to snap the cover onto the basket, only one is the right way.
Look to see that the baffle is facing the hose inlet hole.

Using shop vac 52722-90 for wet applications

yes, the foam filter is what you should use, also make sure you remove any bag, or paper filter, the water would make it fall apart.

Bought house. Inherited shop/vac. A bit old, but

If you are going to use the wet vac to remove water, be sure to remove the bag inside the canister first. Also, some wet vacs have an internal float that has to be installed, but that may not be the case with yours.

Dust blowing right back into the air

You need to check the filter and make sure it's on all the way. To do this take the top off the vac, make sure the filter is all the way up and in place. There should be a plastic nut to hold it in place. If you are using it for fine dust particles such as drywall dust, you need a special filter for small particles. The filter that comes with the vac just won't do it!
