THE BOTTOM ELEMENT OF THE OVEN WILL NOT WORK. THE BROILER ELEMENT WORKS, EVERY THING ELSE WORKS HOWEVER , I HAD A CERTIFIED JOURNEYMEN ELECTRICIAN CHECK IT OUR AND HE CAN NOT TELL IF THE ELEMENT IS GONE OR THE CONTROL TIMER UNIT IS GONE. HIS REALING FROM HIS METER SHOWS THE ELEMENT IS STILL SHOWING GOOD RESISTANCE AND IS SHOWING OPEN OR CURRENT IS STILL PASSING THROUGH THE ELEMENT. HOW DO YOU TELL OTHER THAN TRIAL AND ERROR AND SPENDING 50 DOLLARS TO CHANGE THE BOTTOM ELEMENT OR HOW DO YOU TELL IF THE TIMER CONTROL UNIT IS NO GOOD, BECAUSE EVERY THING ELSE WORKS ON THE STOVE.???

You can check the element by supplying the necessary voltage at its terminal direct. Remove the connection and supply it with your own extension wire going to the live outlet. This is easy but dangerous to the untrained personnel. If it works then the most probable culprit is a broken wiring or the timer itself.

My top broiler won't turn on. Everything else works fine. I have exchanged the top broiler element with the bottom. So I know it isn't the element.

Could be wiring. Did it work before? Maybe, never connected? Could be demand of two oven's and or broilers at the same time exceeded the wire and circuit breaker capacity when installed and therefore were never connected.
Otherwise thermostat. Probably need appliance Tec or Electrician.

Will the oven work without the broiler attached

You could use the oven without the broiler. It is customary that the oven will use the broil element to even out the heat in the oven for better baking but you could use if. it just may not bake evenly. There could be two things that is causing the broil element to stay energized. the control is not shutting down or there is a short to ground in the broil element. Have the broil element tested, it could just need replacing. If it is in the control that is a bigger problem.

Model FEFL78CBC frigidaire oven bottom (bake) burner won't work everything else works fine --even broiler element works fine. Just used self-cleaning cycle, which did work. Next morning oven won't heat ....

We had the same thing happen and now they came and said it was the clock that needs to be replaced. They said that controls the oven. Even though clock is on and working the function for turning on the oven is not

The oven does not heat up on my GE Spectra XL44 but the broiler and stove work fine.

Might be the bottom element is bad. Not too hard to install a new one.
I am no electrician but if you unplug the stove, remove the bottom element and use an ohm meter attatched to each end, it should show if the element is broken through lack of continuity.
Just an idea from a landlord.

Oven and broiler: no heat

Flipped the breaker switch! Although we had looked at the breaker first thing, and it was not flipped off, plus everything else on the range was working: we found out it is actually a double breaker, with one half controlling just the oven, and it can be just partially flipped and you don't notice it. So as soon as you toggle it off and on again, you are back in full power.

Kenmore electrical oven

Trying to better define the problem....

Do you have any cuts, holes or "shorting" or tin-foil/aluminum around your bottom bake heat-element? If so, you may need to replace the baking Heat Element. (Ensure you do not use aluminum foil around your heat element to prevent your oven from getting dirty)

To replace your baking heat element, with power off; remove 2 screws securing the bake element. Slightly tug and pull towards you for about 3 inches or so and disconnect the connecting wires at each end. Then completely remove the heat element and install new in reverse manner. Whats' you're model number?

Oven not working

There is a separate element for the oven (bottom one) and the broiler (top one) It sounds like the bottom heating element is burnt out assuming this is an electric oven.

Gas oven's broiler works. Regular oven does not.

There could be several reasons.
  1. You could have 1 bad element.
  2. You could have a loose connection in the stove. Try removing the element and reinstalling to reset the element.
  3. Your selector switch could be bad. Contact an electrician for electrical checks
