Make sure you have the updated Dell video driver:

Go to Support.Dell.Com, click on Drivers and Downloads, type in your service tag, click go, make sure your OS is selected and then click on Find Downloads, then on Video drivers, then the driver for your card, then run it (if you have broadband) and reboot when it tells you to.

The problem may be that Nvidia's driver are not installed, which enables "clone" mode to display the same thing on the VGA port as is displayed on-screen.

Just install the Nvidia driver from Dell site. Enable "clone" mode and the VGA port will display the same thing as your notebook LCD.
Right click on the Desktop background, click properties, click Settings tab, click advanced, then find Clone mode somewhere in the drivers.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it and give a testimonial for my response. Happy New Year!

Thanks, Joe

Fn F8 will turn your WiFi on or off though.
Use Ctl F5

Hope that helps.

First time using infocus 1x projector with this laptop - installed drivers but there is no start up screen on the projector and will not display laptop image.

You have to tell the computer you hooked up an additional external monitor. Lower left on the keyboard you will see a "FN" key. Across the top, your F keys...look for an icon that looks like a monitor. Usually F5, F7 or F8. Hold down the FN key and select the F5 etc key which is the command to display the image through the external port. Doing this once displays image through the projector and laptop. Twice displays image to projector only and three times returns to display only on laptop again.

Using a 3M S55 projector, I am unable to convey image from the computer to the projector

I#m presuming you're using a laptop. You need to switch the VGA output on. On a Dell it's Fn + F8. You can probably right click on the Desktop>Properties and set it up there

There is an "Auto search for signal" setting on the projector settings menu. This may be turned off.
