The cold control needs replacing. Thats the knob with the numbers that turn the Ref OFF and ON.
What I do is call my local Appliance Parts Store with my model no. They are extremely helpful .
Get freezer and ref thermometer. Ref is probably too cold.
Freezer should be 0 to 10 degrees. Ref 33 to 35

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

Top & bottom are not cold enough.

Check to see if there is any ice buildup in the back of the freezer. You may have a defrost problem. If no ice is found, you may have a Freon leak. Also, what is the make and model number of the unit?

Freezer part works fine, but the refrid won't cool?

The freezer is the only place that has cooling coils (condensor) the ref side steals air by way of a fan and duct from the fzr side. But in my experience the fzr i the last to go when an ref is low on freon. Also make sure the external coils are clean and the fan is running on the external side (if equip) coils are usually under the ref if it has a fan and is accessed on the bottom back by removing a cardboard access usually black. This cardboard looks flimsy but it is very important to reinstall it. It directs the air flow across the coils. after removing this you can plug your ref up to make sure the external fan kicks on with the compressor if not the fan is bad and needs to be replaced. always be careful with electricity...

Always running

depending on the model of ref that you have, coils are accessible front bottom by removing the kick plate, (either screws or clips into place) or its available by removing the bottom plate (metal or cardboard) located on the bottom of the back of the outside of the unit. If the coils are really dirty, clean them and this should resolve the problem, if they are clean, check for excessive frost build up in the freezer section on the back panel indicative of a possible defrost problem, or broken door seal. If defrost problem is present, check defrost thermostat for continuity, if open replace, check heater for same, if open replace. Check defrost timer for proper operation, if faulty, replace as needed. Testing procedures will vary with model. Consult your schematic for proper testing procedures, or call a service tech if you don't feel comfortable with do-it-yourself repair. If the door seal is bad, replace as needed.
