Question about Denon AVR-3806 Receiver

1 Answer

Component video problem. Hi I got the Denon AVR-3806 receiver and has it hooked up with a component cable to my background projection TV. To the reciever I have a satellite box connected also with a component cable in the first component input, and it works fine. When I connect a blu-ray player, also component to the 2nd or 3rd component inputs and assign them correctly in the setup it won't work switching between the two, no matter what I do it allways displays the satellite input on the TV. Connecting only the Blu-ray player also works fine, then I get the right signal. Any help would be greatly appreachiated.

Not a solution but an addendum: Upon further testing I am able to switch between the two but it's a real hazzle. I have plugged in the blu-ray player in RCA-1 and satellite decoder in RCA 3 inputs.
They are assigned to DVD and TV in the component-in-assign menu. Having DVD set to RCA-1 and TV set to RCA-3 gets me video and sound from the satellite when TV is selected on the bottom part of the remote, It does not matter if I switch it to TV or DVD all I get is video from satellite only the sound changes from satellite or blu-ray. Entering settings and switching DVD to RCA-3 and TV to RCA-1 make it the opposite. I only get video from blu-ray player in both modes. That can't be how it's supposed to work right. I mean if I assign DVD to the blu-ray RCA input and the TV to the satellite input, then choosing between the two on the remote should give me video and sound from the two independently?

Just fixed this myself - made my head hurt to figure out. 1. Switch to a setting (say DVD). 2. Watch the AVR screen as it switches. You'll see the audio and video settings. For example, Audio = DVD, Video = DVD (Mine showed Audio = DVD, Video = DBS even though is was set correctly using the SETUP for audio and video)3. Under the round control knob on the left, push the (tiny) Video Select button. 4. Turn control know to choose the correct video source
Your system should work right. Mine did.

If it happens on all "input" sources and you have changed the receiver "output" from component to HDMI and you have the same issue, your receiver has a video board problem and needs service. Depending on your systems setup and the available inputs of the TV, if your receiver is out of warranty, you can use it for audio and run video straight to the TV. Hope this helps

I am having troubling hooking up my PS3 to my denon AVR-1907 receiver. I am using the PS3 component inputs and hooking them up to the "VCR" input.

Connect your component cable to the PS3 OUTPUT (there is no input) and connect that to the component IN on your receiver.

It cant up-convert component to hdmi. Input and output has to be the same. However, you wont lose anything cuz hdmi and component are comparable

No television sound from denon avr-3000

TV has Component input (Green,Red,Blue) connect as follows:

1. Connect Component Video and Audio cables from the Cable box, PS3, DVD or Sat box to thea Component Video and Audio input on the Denon (TV/DBS, DBS,VCR1 VRS2, VDP or DVD).
2. Connect a Component Video cable from the Denon to the TV Component Video input.
3. If you do not have a cable or sat box and have a cable from the wall to the TV you must take an RCA(Red&White) audio out of the TV to an input listed in #1

Hi

Your receiver is capable of video conversion, so there should be no problem using your component cable.

Does your TV accept component, or only S-Video? If you can run component to your TV, the best quality signal path would be using a component cable from your Verizon box to your receiver, and component from your receiver to your TV.

Make sure you have set up the video input correctly, so that it is set to accept the incoming signal on the correct sockets.

Denon AVR 887 Upconversion With Wii

I have this hookup and it's working almost perfectly:

Wii --component--> Avr-887 --HDMI--> Sharp LCD TV

Sometimes the pictures don't show up during start up, but I figured it was (probably) due to Sharp's HDMI handshake issue, so I turned the TV off and then on, everything works.
