You dont need a memory card to use the camera. It has built in memory, but very limited. If you want to take more pictures taken without erasing them, then you need to buy memory cards. There are many different types of memory cards. They are SD cards (secure digital). They come in different sizes (micro, mini, and normal). Again different speed classes. Speed classes vary from class 2 to class 10, class 2 being the slowest. Again SD cards have been modified to SDHC for digh definition purposes. Micro SD cards and mini SD cards need an adapter, which usually sells for $1. Buy SDHC cards (micro SD or SD), Class 4 or above. You can buy 2GB, 4GB, 8GB, 18GB or 32GB cards. One place to buy cheap is EBAY.

For all practical purposes, yes. The camera does have some memory, but you probably won't be able to take more than three full-resolution pictures before it fills up.

The C143 uses SD and SDHC cards. I strongly suggest buying at least two cards so as to have a spare in case you fill up one card or one card goes bad.

I need drive kodak EasyShare C143 Digital Camera

You may download Kodak software from here.

Bear in mind that you don't need a driver. The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

When i insert the memory card in my Kodak c143 east share then i displayed that " memory card is protected (reset switch on memory card)".

Look at your memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the metal contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

Kodak EasyShare C143 Digital Camera formatting

Check your card isn't set to write protect then try re-formatting again in the camera, if it still doesn't work, try another card. The card you're using could be faulty.

I have purchased a kodak easyshare c143 digital camera and it is set on a foreign langage i do not understand so consequently i cannot get it set on english. Could you please help!!!!

Welcome to FixYa.

I have here the manual of your Kodak EasyShare C143 Digital Camera. Since your camera was set into foreign language,in this manual you can view the sequence on how to set up the language of your camera. I suggest that you just have to follow the sequence since you cant understand what it says on it right now. You just have to click in here.

If your going to use it for the first time, you just have to see page 2 but for more details in setting the language, you just have to go on page 33.

I hope this manual can help you to change the language of your camera.
Feel free to reply on this if you still have any questions.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Purchased a easyshare C143 when I put in the memory card it keeps insisting I format it. When I indicate OK it produces a red and white line for a few seconds and goes back to the original message format!...

You're right...a Kodak isn't even in the same ballpark as a Canon. Anyway, be sure the slide switch on the side of the card is in the "unlocked" position. Go into the menu and find "format" and launch it from there. Also, be sure the card can be used by the camera. For example, some cameras can only use SD cards and not SDHC cards.
