Question about Toto Drake ADA Compliant Toilet with Elongated Bowl

1 Answer

My toto drake which has the g-max valve make a high pitch squeal when the toilet is flushed and also when it is finished filling. So at the start and stop.... Is this a defective valve or is there something I can do to stop this annoying sound? The toilet is only a month old and this has happened since day one...

I had the same problem and solved it. You need to replace the valve with a Korky 528t replacement valve, which is very quiet. The gmax valve is inherently squeaky and there is no fixing it. You can get the 528t on the internet as it is unusual to find it in a store (don't get the 528 which won't work properly on toto). Also you must use the replacement overflow tube that is packaged with the 528t. The original tube is too narrow and the bowl won't fill properly. The replacement takes 10 minutes.

After flushing the toilet the bowl only a small amount of water comes back into bowl. This is a new problem. Could there be a clog?

Is the flapper valve closing sooner then it should? Is the water line (the 1/4" vinyl tube at top of fill valve) going into the tank or into the overflow tube? Did anyone drop anything into the flush valve?

Toto toilet won't flush

Replace the assembly. This is common in areas with high mineral content in water. You will be glad you did. Delay too long, you may find your toilet running while you are at work .

The bowl on one of our Toto Drake toilets, after a flush is complete, has very very little water in it. I recently replaced the fill valve (used a Korky fill valve). Since then I have had this problem

The small tube that comes from the Korky fill valve needs to go down the center of the tube in the tank. It should have come with a clip to clip it inside the fill tube. If the tube is running water into the tank it is just filling up the tank, not the bowl. The tank is filled with the Korky valve from the top of the tower, not the black hose. See the video below to see the black tube I'm referring to and where it should be attached.

Noisy fill valve

You may have higher than normal water pressure. Try closing the the cutoff valve on the wall half way and see if that helps. You can experiment with it till you find the best position. You can get a pressure gauge that will attach to a hose bib for a few dollars to see if the pressure is too high (more than 80 psi is too high). If it is too high you can have a plumber install a pressure breaker on the line where it enters the house.

G-max flushing system is not filling to proper level

Is it not refilling the tank or the bowl? I've got a toto also that is not fully refilling the bowl after each flush. No leaks or other problems. Tank refills fine. Seems that the flapper doesn't float long enough to allow a sufficient amount of water to drain into the bowl before closing. Any ideas?

The toilet makes a very loud, high pitched noise when flushed.

I recently had the same problem. to let you know I replaced the filler and the flapper to NO avail. I tried flushing with the water OFF and it still did it thought it was in the siphon so I removed the water going in there and it still made the sound. This AM it got to me so I was determined to be rid of the WHINE It only happens when the TOP is on that is when it hit me is the seal so great that the vacuum creates the whine I put the little rubber door stops, the one you use in door jams, on the four side and tada no more sound Hope this helps

My Toto toilet has a problem: the chain from the lever has come off the rubber valve. How can I reattach it?

If the chain has fallen off the valve just turn off the water inlet and flush, it will not fill now. Put chain back on if the valve area where the chain connects is ripped, replace rubber valve. Turn on inlet and grab a magazine and enjoy your quite time! Happy trails to you :)

Delay on tank fill after flush. Toto Drake bowl ada elongatred

I am not a plumber but stumbled across the solution on my own. While watching the float during the flush cycle, it was obvious that it was very slow in moving downward along with the water level in the tank. The problem was that the small opening in the float chamber was partially clogged. Using just my fingers, I reached under the float chamber and cleaned off any debris that was blocking the opening underneath the float chamber. Put the float back on, and instantly the problem was solved. The tank fill started immediately after I flushed.
