Question about Sony AW-Q170A 18X DVD Burner Beige (Bulk Drive) Burner

2 Answers

We have a 1 to 7 drive duplicator that has been acting erratically lately. 1 week it will copy 7 disks just fine, then when I put in the next 7 disks to copy, it will sit on 0% copied for 5 minutes, then jump over to 100% copied, and then eject all the copied disks, no problem. Lately it would not eject the disks and just sat there with 100% copied showing. I finally manually ejected the disks but was not sure if they were any good. Also, lately it has started failing disks which I know are new. It is just 3 years old, but gets pretty heavy use between a preschool and a church. I am not aware of any maintenance having been done and I do not have the manual. Should I get a cleaning disk and try that? Thanks.

The recording is done on a audio recording console. I do not think we can easily change recording software.

I believe this a stand alone duplicator which has no software that is updatable. I will try cleaning and then contact tech support if that doesn't work. thanks.

A cleaning disk will help ...but you have to reinstall the driver for it also ..cause it may have some issues..Also reinstall the software that you use for burning disks...If the problem will go on ..my advice is to get to the support site and download an update for the firmware and install in the device ...Usually the procedure is present on the site when you download the firmware updates..
It may though be an issue of hard using and its lifetime to be near end..

Why would I need to duplicate my hard drive?

In the case that you get a virus that makes your computer not function properly you would use a duplicate or back up of your hard drive to return to the most recent (or previously created backup) of your hard drive so it works. You can use a duplicating software to copy your hard drive to a new hard drive should you want to upgrade your system. If you want to sell your computer without giving away your personal information that is stored on the hard drive you can use a duplication software to load a backup of your hard drive from before you put any personal information on to it.

How to backup copies of all your disks

DVD and Compact disk disks became a part of our way of life; most of us have a significant assortment of motion pictures, audio CDs, photographs, video games, office paperwork as Ill as other disks. And it is really frequently that you simply require to make a backup of that disk, for backup functions or merely to produce a couple of copies of your Adding video clip for your close friends. You will find a lot of applications that may imitate your DVD motion pictures, but really number of those which may copy all of your disks, both Compact disc and DVD

Here I'll test a plan known as AVS DVD Copy, which claims copying any type of DVD and Compact disk disks. I'd prefer to check is it really can replicate any type of disk

Setup requires a number of seconds, the plan is created as a classic step-by-step wizard, and it appears slick and clear. Pick disk to copy, it is a DVD film now, and press "Next" button to go further. I've got two DVD movie drives on our test personal computer so the system asks do I want to imitate directly from drive to push? Yes I do! Press "Next" once again and it began to duplicate. By default it helps make a single imitate, but you are able to set quantity of copies as you like

Arrive again, now with a sound Compact disk. AVS DVD Copy does the task perfectly; I have received specifically exactly the same Compact disk, no top quality loss in any way! I did exactly the same with several of recreation CDs, CD with photographs, MP3 new music DVD, one more Digital video disc film, and one more Digital video disc film. All attempts Ire successfull, no hassles

Then I examined the way it operates having a solitary CD/DVD drive. First it copies from disk to computer, then asks to insert a blank disk and writes an imitate. It takes additional time, but the outcome can also be perfect

What I also observed is AVS DVD Copy does not decrease the good quality of DVD and DVD motion pictures and audio CDs, which is good. Actually, you get a correct duplicate, specifically the identical as authentic. AVS DVD Copy is seriously in a position to imitate any CDs and DVDs, and it does not matter what disk is in your push, you obtain a correct duplicate with AVS DVD Copy movie anyway. I successfully copied over 10 disks, both Compact disk and DVD, which contained video clip, MP3 audio, Compact disk audio tracks, pictures, paperwork, no cost computer software along with other stuff. It effectively recognizes various CDR/RW, DVD+/-R/RW disks and double-layer DVD movie videos

There's only a single function missed in AVS DVD Copy. Regrettably it can't encode 9 GB double-layer Digital video disc for the four.7Gb single layer, so individuals who're in search of this function will probably be frustrated. But in any case AVS DVD Copy is still a single in the best DVD Copy software program I ever seen.

Acard duplicator - 'Source drive not ready'

> source drive not ready

When you push the button to open/close the drawer, does it work,
i.e., is there electrical power reaching the drive?

Did you put a disk into the "source" drive?
Is the same disk recognized when you put that disk into any other computer?
If so, then the "source" drive is damaged, and needs to be repaired/replaced.

I don't know how to access my Western Digital Backup. I have no icon to click.

hi

If you have a WD Media Center, Dual-option Combo, or Dual-option USB external hard drive, you can use the Retrospect Express software that comes with the drive to create a backup schedule that will backup your data onto the drive.

To setup an automatic duplicate schedule in Retrospect Express 6.5 on a PC, please follow the instructions below.
  1. Start Retrospect Express by pressing the Automatic Backup button on the front of your Media Center external hard drive after you have installed the Retrospect software and powered on and connected the drive.

  2. You will be presented with the Western Digital Automatic Backup Wizard. Click Next to continue.

  3. Highlight the drive(s) that contains the data you wish to backup and click Next. To select multiple drives or folders, hold down the Ctrl key and make your selections.

  4. You will have a choice to backup your documents only or all files, make your selection and click Next.

  5. Highlight the drive you wish to copy your data to and click Next.

  6. You will have the option to run the data duplication daily or once a week. Make your selection and click Next.

    • If you choose a daily duplication, you will have to select the time that you'd like the duplication to start each day, then click Next.

    • If you choose a weekly duplication, you will have to select the day and time that you'd like the duplication to start, then click Next.

    • If you wish to run the duplication one time when you are finished setting up the schedule, check the Start the backup now box and click Finish. Otherwise, just click Finish.

    • You will see the Automatic backup button glow a solid blue. When the blue light is on it indicates that the automatic duplication schedule is enabled and your duplication is set to run at the scheduled time.
For the duplication to run successfully, you must have both the computer and drive powered on and connected correctly at the scheduled time.
