Question about RCA L32HD31 32 in. LCD HDTV

1 Answer

My mothers set just quit working. The power light comes on but she can not get any signal to register. She cannot change channels or control any other function. She cannot even get a picture. Recently she went on a binge of trying to figure out the workings of the set. She startd pushing buttons randomly to see what they would do and I think she got the programming all tangled up within the set.. My problem is that I do not know how to untangle things for her.

This could be a setup issue or it could be a fault within the TV. Unfortunately your description does not contain enough information to determine which. It could also be a faulty remote control.

Please switch the TV off, remove all cables (make note of where they connect first!) and then unplug it for at least 5 minutes. Then re-connect the cables, switch the TV back on and then try the following tests.

1. Press the "POWER" (ON/OFF) button on the front of the TV. It's possible that the TV is in "Standby" mode and the remote isn't working.
2. Does the on-screen menu activate when you press the "MENU" (M) button on the RCA remote?
3. Does the on-screen menu activate when you press the "MENU" button on the front of the TV?
4. Do any of the buttons on the RCA remote or the front of the TV have any effect?

Finally try pressing the "INPUT" (IN) button repeatedly on either the remote or the front of the TV as you may have simply switched the TV to an external input mode, e.g VCR/DVD.

It will be much easier to solve this problem if you still have the RCA remote that was supplied with the TV. If you don't have it, please can you let me know which remote (brand and model number) you are using for the TV and whether you have been able to verify that whichever remote you are using is actually working.

If you can try these things and post back with the results, I will be able to assist you further.

Sharp Aquos 32 LCD freezes on air channel

I had the same problem, same channel, same day. It must be a problem with signal strength. With the TV on, I unplugged the coax cable that leads to my antenna (I am not on cable). As soon as I disconnected the antenna, I could change the channel off of 11.1. I plugged the antenna back in and all other channels work. Hope this helps.

My rca p52936 will not change channels. everything else seems to work.

First would be what kind of signal are you using? Direct cable to the set or what?

If only one channel does the number on screen change when you change channel but set stays on the last channel?

Also look to see if set on the front has the "Guide Plus" logo.

I have a Mackie d8b, not getting any signal no matter what we try.

This is vague,,, there are so many outputs, knobs, LED's that I suspect you have not tried the right combination. I have no idea what your signal sources are... mics... tape... etc.

To start, turn the trim control of one channel that you have a signal source connected. Set all the EQ controls and the pan CONTROLS TO 12 O'CLOCK.

Check that you can trigger the clip light with high level of input. Press the solo button for that channel and using a set of headphones listen for any signal... turn the headphone level up and the slider for that channel...

First do your basic checks,,, try EACH mute button and see the LED light... try each solo button and see that each will light AND also that ANY solo light will cause the RUDE solo light to come on...

Re:"shutdown after video comes up the green power light stays on but the set will not shut down while changing channels."

I do not think this has anything to do with logic circuits and video processing. When you stay on one channel the horizontal and vertical alignment circuit works more than if you change channels all the time.
This is just a guess, but have a look at convergence ICs. when you keep changing channels the power amp ICs (or transistors) go on and off, if one of them is defective it will overheat and shut down.
Other possibility is an internal tuner failure. Also test using a DVS or VCR.

I would suggest you try to find a universal remote that has an "input" or "source" button and program that one to your tv. By pressing the "source" or "input" button, it will change the input to the tv. I hope this helps! -Der Strom

I have no front control panel working and changes channels

The front controls are called Tac Switches. They have a tendency of becoming corroded and sending erroneous commands to the micro. You can disconnect the lead coming from the control panel to the chassis and see if it quits. If it does, that answers your question. If you decide to replace them all, try
